Landmark Announces Players of the Week

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference has released the Players of the Week for the ninth week of the season. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Dillon Farrell
Moravian (So., North Wales, Pa.)
 

Farrell earned Landmark Conference Male Runner of the Year honors for his first place finish at the 2012 Landmark Conference Championships. Farrell finished the 8,000-meter course in 26:02.60, 43.5 seconds ahead of the runner-up, to lead Moravian to its second straight Landmark Conference title. This marks Farrell’s fifth Runner of the Week accolade this season.

Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Jennifer Van Wingerden
Drew (Sr., Columbia, N.J.)
 
Van Wingerden became the first Drew runner to win a conference championship this weekend as she finished with time of 22:52 to cross the finish line first in the women's 6K. She is the second women's runner in school history to earn all-conference honors and the first since 2006. This marks Van Wingerden’s fourth Runner of the Week honor this season.

Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week
Caroline Phillips
Juniata (Sr, M, Wilmington, Del.)
Phillips was invaluable on the field this week scoring four goals in two games with two game winners. Because of her play, the Eagles went 2-0 and spoiled Scranton’s bid for a No. 1 seed in the last game of the regular season. She leads the team with 11 goals and 24 points and has five multi-goal games this year.

Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Mike Brennan
Catholic (Sr, F, Feasterville, Pa.)
Brennan netted two goals on the week, including the game-winner in Saturday's win at Drew. Brennnan scored in the 78th minute in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Salisbury, which entered the game ranked No. 7 in the South Atlantic. He then scored the lone goal in CUA's 1-0 win at Drew on Saturday, which helped the Cardinals tie for No. 1 in the league.
   
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Brandon Kates
Susquehanna (Sr., D, Cherry Hill, N.J.)
Kates started on the back line as Susquehanna picked up wins over King’s (Pa.) and Moravian. The Crusaders held both opponents scoreless and Kates added a goal on his only shot against Moravian.

Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Emma Campbell
Drew (Fr, F, Creskill, N.J.)
Campbell recorded two game-winning goals this week. She capped off a Ranger comeback against FDU with a goal in the second overtime of a 4-3 victory. On Saturday the freshman scored the only goal of a 1-0 victory over Catholic. She finished the regular season with the league lead in goals points with 15 and 34 respectively.
   
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Gaby Davis
Goucher (Fr, D, New York, N.Y.)
The Gophers recorded their 11th and 12th shutouts of the season and the freshman right back was crucial to that effort. She also assisted both of Goucher's goals in the season-ending 2-0 triumph over Bryn Mawr which allowed the Gophers to tie the program record for most wins in a season.

Volleyball Player of the Week
Marissa Every
Scranton (Sr, LB, East Norriton, Pa.)
 
Every totaled 100 digs in three matches during the week averaging more than nine per set. She had 41 digs in a 3-1 victory over PSU-Berks on Tuesday, two short of matching her season high. In that win, she became the first player in Scranton history to reach 2,000 digs for her career.

Men's Swimming & Diving Player of the Week
Chadd Lee
Susquehanna (Sr., Bloomsburg, Pa.)

Lee finished first in the 200 breaststroke with a personal-best time of 2:18.65 and also won the 200 IM in 2:02.75. He also finished second in the butterfly with a time of 2:05.19 and competed as a member of the 200 medley relay team that finished second in 1:40.99. Lee helped the Crusaders finish 1-1 this week with a win over Messiah and loss to Gettysburg.

Women's Swimming & Diving Player of the Week
Devin Lessard
Susquehanna (Sr., Chestertown, Md.)

Lessard finished with three individual wins this week. She won the 1000 free by three seconds with a time of 10:56.06 and won the 500 free in 5:18.31. She picked up another first-place finish by winning the 200 butterfly in 2:13.73 and teamed up to finish fifth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:44.93.
