Elizabethtown Leads Landmark Presidents’ Trophy Standings

TOWSON, Md.  – Elizabethtown College won three league titles and posted an additional top-five finish during the fall season to take the lead in the Landmark Presidents’ Trophy standings.

Elizabethtown’s three Landmark titles came in men’s and women’s cross country, and men’s soccer.

The Blue Jays finished second in the team standings in field hockey, and was awarded an additional bonus point for making it to the Landmark postseason.

The University of Scranton finished third in the standings. The Royals posted a top-five finish in all six fall sports, and was the runner-up in field hockey and women’s soccer. Susquehanna University checked in at fourth. The River Hawks picked up two league titles in field hockey and women’s soccer, and was the runner-up in volleyball.

Juniata College, which won its league-leading 12th volleyball championship, finished fifth overall, while Moravian College finished sixth. Drew University finished in seventh and Goucher College rounded out the fall trophy standings in eighth.

The Trophy is awarded based on a formula that rewards institutions for regular season conference standings as well as results in Landmark postseason competition. The point structure was revised in the summer of 2016 with different point hierarchies for team and individual sports, but the maximum number of points any team can earn is 15. The total number of points each institution earn is divided by the number of Landmark sports sponsored to determine the average.
