Eight Student-Athletes Chosen As Players of the Week

MADISON, N.J. - The first week with the entire slate of six Landmark winter sports earned eight student-athletes Landmark Player of the Week recognition. The Landmark Player of the Week selections are made by the Landmark Conference office.

Men's Basketball:
Junior Jason Banzhaf produced a pair of strong all-around games for Catholic this past week. He made history with a double-double in a Landmark win over Goucher as his 28 points moved him past the 1,000-point mark for his career, making him the first men’s basketball player with 1,000 points playing solely as a member of the Landmark. He also had 13 rebounds in the win over Goucher, while also adding a steal. Earlier in the week he scored 19 points and grabbed five boards in a loss to Washington & Lee. He averaged 23.5 points and nine rebounds per game for the week and shot 50-percent from the field.

Women's Basketball:
Moravian senior Jessica Foran was a big contributor as the Greyhounds opened their Landmark schedule with a road win over fourth-ranked Scranton. She scored a team-high 16 points whiling 67-percent from the field in the contest. She also grabbed six rebounds, passed out three assists and added a steal as Moravian earned the win.

Men's Field:
Senior Mike Blenk of Moravian got his indoor season off to a strong start with several good performances at the Lehigh Season Opener. He placed third with an ECAC qualifying mark of 6.71 meters in the long jump, and added a fifth-place finish in the high jump with a best leap of 1.80 meters. He also competed in a pair of track events, finishing second and 10th in the 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter dash respectively.

Women's Field:
Micah Leonard enjoyed a solid start to the indoor track season with several good results at the Lehigh Season Opener. The freshman won the triple jump with a leap of 11.16 meters and posted a best jump of 5.00 meters to finish eighth in the long jump. Her triple jump distance was an ECAC qualifying mark. She also competed in the 60-meter dash, where she placed 11th.

Men's Swimming & Diving:
USMMA diver Nicholas Halbach excelled for the Mariners at the ECAC Division III Championships this past weekend. The junior was named the Diver of the Meet as he won both the 3-meter and 1-meter events, besting 16 and 15 other divers in the two events respectively. He broke the existing ECAC record with a score of 507.70 to win the 3-meter dive, and then scored 435.00 to place first in the 1-meter event.

Women's Swimming & Diving:
Susquehanna’s Christie Savard earns the Player of the Week honor for the third time after a strong showing at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. The junior broke school records in each of her three individual events at the meet. She won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:06.04 setting a new meet record, swam 2:11.65 to place third in the 200 IM and set a new Susquehanna record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.02 which was good for second place. She also was a part of four Susquehanna relays that established new school records at the meet.

Men's Track:
Moravian freshman Chidibere Ezemma got his collegiate career off to a strong start as he won a pair of events at the Lehigh Season Opener. He crossed the line first in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.94 and then added a win in the 400-meter by running 52.25 seconds. He added a runner-up finish with a time of 7.15 in the 60-meter dash.

Women's Track:
Symonne Scott was strong for Moravian in its first meet of the season this past weekend. At the Lehigh Season Opener she earned a pair of runner-up finishes on the track, placing second in the 60-meter dash in a time of 8.14 and second in the 200-meter in a time of 27.47. She also added a second-place finish in the long jump in field competition.
