Six Student-Athletes Honored As Players of the Week

MADISON, N.J. - The winter sports regular season concluded this weekend and six winter sports student-athletes have been chosen as Landmark Players of the Week. The Landmark Player of the Week selections are made by the Landmark Conference office.

Men's Basketball
Playing in his final regular-season game, Susquehanna forward Joel Patch turned in his 14th double-double of the season in a win over Juniata. He scored a season-high 27 points while also grabbing 13 rebounds in the victory. With the 27 points he became the 31st Susquehanna player to go over the 1,000-point mark for his career. He shot 60-percent from the field while also producing a pair of assists, two steals and a block.

Women's Basketball:
Juniata senior guard Claudia McDowell helped the Eagles clinch the third seed in the upcoming postseason with a strong game in a win over Susquehanna. She scored 17 points, passed out six assists, grabbed five rebounds and added four steals for the Eagles. She scored Juniata’s final six points of the game to spark an 8-0 Juniata run to close the game, and also had a pair of steals that led to baskets inside the final two minutes.

Men's Field:
Susquehanna’s Ray Snarski posted two strong efforts in the field events at the Susquehanna Open. He placed 13th in the shot put and 19th in the weight throw. His effort in the shot put was 12.71 meters and he notched a season-best 12.03 meters in the weight throw.

Women's Field:
Juniata freshman Erika Brown picked up a first-place finish in the long jump at the Susquehanna Indoor Open Brown cleared 1.57 meters to place first in the high jump, besting 14 other competitors. The mark is the second-best mark in the Landmark this season. Brown also posted a leap of 4.42 meters in the long jump.

Men's Track:
Susquehanna’s Josh Simpson broke a 13-year old school record in a winning performance at the Susquehanna Indoor Open. Simpson won the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.44, which broke the existing school record and provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Championships. He also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.22.

Women's Track:
Moravian’s Sydni Wisniewski led the Greyhounds at the Susquehanna Indoor Open. The sophomore won the 400-meter dash in a time of 59.46 which is an ECAC qualifying time, and ranks as the fastest in the Landmark this season. She also ran the anchor leg of the winning 4x400 relay team that broke the Moravian scool record with a time of 4:05.88.
