Landmark Sending 10 Athletes To NCAA Track Championships

MADISON, N.J. – The first season of competition in the
Landmark Conference will conclude this weekend as 10 Landmark
student-athletes compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track
& Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in
Oskosh Wisconsin. The meet begins Thursday May 22 and will conclude
Saturday May 24. The 10 Landmark athletes will compete in 10
different events.
Moravian College has a total of eight athletes, six females and
two males, while Juniata College and Susquehanna University each
have one athlete competing in the championships. All 10 will be
trying to earn All-America recognition by placing in the top-eight
in an individual event, while also trying to earn points for the
team standings.
Moravian senior Ozzie Brown has qualified for three events at the
meet, including the 10-event decathlon. Brown will try and match
his success from the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships when he
won the long jump competition. At the Outdoor Championships Brown
will also be competing in the long jump, as well as the 110-meter
hurdles. His teammate, senior Nathaniel Tussey will also be running
in the 110-meter hurdles and will also take part in the 400-meter
hurdles.
Juniata senior Matthew Booth qualified to also compete in the long
jump, while Susquehanna senior Mike Marr will be taking part in the
high jump.
The women’s participants all come from Moravian as the
Greyhounds have six athletes competing in five different events.
Sophomores Jessica Posimo and Symonne Scott will each be competing
in two events. Posimo qualified in the 100-meter hurdles and Scott
is jumping in the long jump. The pair will then join sophomore
Rachel Beck and freshman Sydni Wisniewski in the 4x100 relay.
Freshman Mary King has qualified for the championships in her first
season as she will compete in the javelin and sophomore Anna Heim
will be taking part in the pole vault competition.
The Landmark sent two competitors to the NCAA Division III
Landmark Indoor Track & Field Championships and has also had
competitors qualify for the NCAA Cross Country and NCAA Swimming
& Diving Championships in its first season of competition. In
addition, eight teams have earned bids to NCAA Tournaments during
the 2007-08 academic year, with three Landmark teams earning at
least one NCAA victory.
