Four Players Selected As Players of the Week

MADISON, N.J. - With the winter sport season moving fully into conference play, four student-athletes have been honored as Landmark Conference Players of the Week. The Player of the Week selections are made by the conference office.

Men's Basketball:
Juniata sophomore guard Jeff Berkey played a major role in Juniata posting a 3-0 week including two Landmark wins. In an overtime win over Moravian he tied the game on a lay-up with eight seconds left and then scored seven of his career-best 26 points in overtime to help the Eagles to the win. He then added 20 points, including a late three that helped Juniata complete a comeback in a win over Scranton. For the week he averaged 16 points and five rebounds per game, while also collecting four assists. He was a perfect 11-of-11 from the foul line and shot 56-percent from the field and 60-percent from three-point range.

Men's Swimming & Diving:
Senior Jack Cook helped Scranton earn a narrow six-point win over Landmark foe Catholic in dual-meet action. Cook earned three individual first-place finishes in the meet, touching the wall first in the 100 backstroke, the 200 backstroke and the 400 IM.  He swam a time of 56.53 in the 100 which was one second shy of breaking his own school record, and recorded times of 2:05.86 and 2:09.28 in the 200 backstroke and 400 IM respectively. Cook also swam the opening leg of the winning 200 medley relay team.

Women's Basketball:
For the third time this season Goucher senior Shadae Swan has been tabbed as the Player of the Week. Swan helped the Gophers win two Landmark Conference contests as the team earned home wins over Drew and USMMA. She scored 28 points, grabbed seven rebounds, passed out five assists and had five steals in the win over USMMA. She followed it up with a 27-point performance against Drew, in which she also had six rebounds and six steals. She shot 94-percent from the foul line (18-19) on the week and hit 48-percent of her shots from the floor.

Women's Swimming & Diving:
Susquehanna's Kelly Leighton posted two individual event wins to help her team claim tri-meet victories over King's and Landmark opponent Drew. Both of her times in the victories were lifetime bests. She set a new personal best in a time of 11:38.04 in the 1,000 freestyle to earn the victory, and then was also victorious in the 500 freestyle by recording a time of 5:41:31. Her efforts helped Susquehanna improve to 6-3 in dual-meet action this season.
