Eight Selected As Athletes of the Week

MADISON, N.J. - Eight Landmark Conference student-athletes have been selected as Athletes of the Week following a busy week of Landmark competition. The Athlete of the Week selections are made by the conference office.

Men's Basketball:
Moravian senior forward Chris Earley turned in two strong per­formances as the Greyhounds earned two Landmark victories. He scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while also piling up five blocks and three steals in a win over Catholic. He followed it up with a 17-point, 12-rebound effort against Goucher in which he shot 70-percent from the field. The 12 rebounds were a career high, and he also passes out four assists in the contest. He aver­aged 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 60-percent from the field in the two wins. Earley also produced six assists, five blocks and three steals in the two games.

Women's Basketball:
Scranton freshman Megan Kopecki produced two efficient all-around games in a pair of conference wins this week. She came off the bench to score 20 points in 23 minutes by shooting 89-percent from the field in a win over Goucher. She then added 11 points, six rebounds and six steals as the Royals won their fourth straight by downing Catholic. Kopecki shot 60-percent from the field over the two games, including 50-percent from three-point range. She had seven steals and four assists to go with her average of 15.5 points and five rebounds per game.  

Men's Field:
Moravian's Blair Maginnis won one event and was a runner up in a second for the Greyhounds at the Susquehanna Orange & Maroon Invitational. He placed first in the weight throw with a toss of 15.02 meters, which was just short of a new school record. He followed that by breaking the school record in the shot put with an effort of 15.40 meters, which was good for second place in the event.  

Women's Field:
Jessica Posimo won two individual field events for Moravian at the Susquehanna Orange & Maroon Classic. The bested the field in the long jump with a best effort of 5.01 meters, and then also had the longest jump with a victory in the triple jump. Her winning triple jump mark was 10.32 meters. She added a seventh-place finish in the high jump on the day.  

Men's Swimming & Diving:
USMMA freshman Nicholas Halbach claims his second conference honor of the season after a pair of strong performances. Halbach won the low board, and high board diving events in a USMMA win over nationally-ranked Division II foe Adelphi, with his score in each event qualifying him for the NCAA Championships. He then bested each score later in the week as he won both events as the Mariners swept Landmark foes Goucher and Drew.

Women's Swimming & Diving:
Bethany Natoli of Goucher helped the team sweep a pair of Landmark foes in tri-meet action this week. Natoli captured individual wins in the 200 IM and the 200 backstroke. She also swam the leadoff leg of the team that opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. Natoli swam a time of 2:28.71 in the 200 IM and posted a mark of 2:23.62 in the 200 backstroke.

Men's Track:
Ozzie Brown continued his strong indoor performances by winning a pair of events on the track at the Orange & Maroon Invitational. Brown crossed the line first in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 7.68 which is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, and then he also won the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.57. He also was a part of two winning relay teams on the day for the Greyhounds.

Women's Track:
Sydni Wisniewski continued the strong efforts for the Moravian track team at the Orange & Maroon Invitational as she picked up a pair of individual victories. She crossed the line first in the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.73 and then ran a time of 1:01.42 to place first in the 400. She added a fifth-place finish in the 55-meter dash. She also competed on Moravian's winning 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays.
