Landmark Selects Nine Athletes of the Week

MADISON, N.J. - After a busy week of winter competition, including one conference championship, the Landmark Conference has selected nine Athletes of the Week. The Athlete of the Week selections are made by the conference office.

Men's Basketball:
Drew senior Chris Lopez put together a pair of strong all-around games for the Rangers. In a win over conference-leader Susquehanna he scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while adding two steals and an assist. It was his second double-double of the weekend after he scored 11 points and grabbed 11 boards with four steals and three assists against Juniata. He averaged 18 points and 11.5 rebounds over the two games.

Women's Basketball:
Moravian's Ayssa Bisci helped the Greyhounds go 2-0 this past week and clinch a Landmark postseason berth. She scored 17 points in wins over both Catholic and Goucher and shot 67-percent from the field over the two games. She missed just nine shots total over the two games, going 10-of-15 from the field and 14-of-18 from the foul line. Bisci also averaged 5.5 rebounds in the two wins, while adding four steals and three assists.   

Men's Field:
Moravian's Ozzie Brown continued his strong performances from the indoor season as he placed first in the long jump at the Lafayette Rider Winter Games. Brown won the long jump with a best mark of 7.29 meters which is an NCAA automatic qualifying leap. The jump was the farthest in Division III this season. He added two top-10 and one more top-15 performance on the track at the meet.  

Women's Field:
Anna Heim of Moravian produced a high finish in the pole vault at the Lafayette Rider Winter Games. Heim placed second in the pole vault in the competition, clearing the bar at 3.75 meters. That height is an NCAA automatic qualifying height and also qualifies her for the ECAC Championships.  

Co-Men's Swimming:
Jeff Fornadley of Susquehanna was recognized as the Landmark Men's Co-Swimmer of the Year for his efforts at the Landmark Swimming & Diving Championships. The senior earned wins in three individual events and was also a member of four first-place relay teams as he helped Susquehanna to a second-place team finish. Fornadley dominated the sprints winning the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle races. His time in each race was the fastest in the Landmark this season.

Scranton's Joseph Veselovsky was picked as the Landmark Men's Co-Swimmer of the Year after several strong performances as the Landmark Swimming & Diving Championships. The junior won three individual titles, and established a pair of school records for the Royals at the championship. Veselovsky won the 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley in school record time, and was also victorious in the 400 individual medley. He established new Landmark bests in the 200 fly and 400 IM.

Women's Swimming:
Scranton's Erin O'Connor was named the Landmark Women's Swimmer of the Year for her performances in helping Scranton earn the women's championship at the Landmark Swimming & Diving Championships. The junior claimed the individual titles in the 500 freestyle, the 400 individual medley and the 200 butterfly and was also a member of the winning 800 freestyle relay team. Her times in each event rank as the fastest in the Landmark this season, and she has now earned 11 individual conference titles in her career.  

Men's Track:
Paul Thistle of Susquehanna was a part of two victories for the Crusaders at their own Susquehanna Indoor Open. The junior captured a victory in the 5,000 at the meet, running a time of 15:26.85. Thistle also anchored the Crusader 4x800-meter relay team which won the race in a new school-record time of 8:11.36.

Women's Track:
Moravian's Sydni Wisniewski added several more strong performances to her stellar indoor season as she competed at the Lafayette Rider Indoor Games. She broke her own school record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.39 which is also an NCAA provisional qualifying time. She then added ECAC qualifying times in the 60-meter dash (8.06) and 200-meter dash (25.96).
