Landmark Announces Players of the Week

TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference has released the Players of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Dillon Farrell
Moravian (Jr., North Wales, Pa.)

Farrell was the top NCAA Division III runner at The Catholic University of America Invitational Saturday morning. Farrell was sixth of the 73 runners in the race with a time of 19:33.6 on the 6,000-meter course, a shortened portion of the course that will be used for the Landmark Conference Championships in October.

Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Katrina Woods
Juniata (Sr., Shirleysburg, Pa.)

Woods ran the third fastest 6,000-meter time of her career to place fourth at The Catholic University of America Invitational this weekend. She finished as the top Landmark student-athlete and posted the top 6,000-meter time in the conference thus far this season.

Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week
Brooke Gagliano
Drew (Sr., F, Freehold, N.J.)
Gagliano scored three goals in a pair of wins the weekend leading the Rangers to the Bryn Mawr Tournament Championship. She was credited with the game-winner in a 2-0 win over St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday afternoon. She came back on Sunday to score twice, including the game-winner to help the Rangers to a 5-1 victory over Bryn Mawr.
Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week
Margaret Ruth
Susquehanna (Sr., GK, Lewisberry, Pa.)
Ruth started both games this week and gave up just one goal in 140 minutes of action as Susquehanna earned wins over Gwynedd-Mercy and Dickinson. She made 21 saves this including 13 versus Gwynedd-Mercy to wrap up the week with a .955 save percentage.

Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Bill McGuiness
Scranton (Sr., M, Forty Fort, Pa.)
McGuiness scored both goals in Scranton's 2-1 win over St. John Fisher on Saturday in the team's only game during the week. His direct kick in the 7th minute found the back of the net for an early lead. He later scored in the 55th minute on a beautifully executed set piece of a corner kick to break a 1-1 tie.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Michael Pezzuti
Drew (Jr., D, Fairfield, N.J.)
From his center back position, Pezzuti was integral on both sides of the ball in a pair of wins for the Rangers this weekend. On the defensive end, he helped the Rangers to a pair of shutouts. Against Hunter on Sunday the Rangers defense allowed only one shot on goal. On the offensive side of the ball, Pezzuti was credited with an assist in Saturday's, 3-0 win over DeSales on Saturday night. On Sunday he headed in the game's first goal en route to a 3-0 win over Hunter. His efforts in the two games earned him All-Tournament honors at the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raider Classic.

Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Kirsten Schall
Moravian (Jr., MF, Tinton Falls, N.J.)
Schall helped the Greyhounds to a 1-1 mark last week in non-conference action. Schall netted three goals including both goals in a 3-2 loss to DeSales University. Earlier in the week, she tallied a goal and an assist in Moravan's 3-1 win at Ursinus. Schall wrapped up the week with seven points in two games. She had 13 shots last week, putting nine of them on goal including five of six shots in a 3-1 win at Ursinus College.
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Kelsy McAnelly
Scranton (Sr., GK, West Chester, Pa.)
McAnelly posted a pair of shutouts in two victories over the weekend. She made four saves in a 1-0 win over Lebanon Valley on Saturday, and then made three saves in a 1-0 win over York a day later. They were her first two shutouts of the season and gave her 25 for her career, tied for second-most in school history.

Volleyball Player of the Week
Hayley Dunkel
Susquehanna (Jr., OH, Pottsville, Pa.)

Dunkel played in every single set this weekend to average 2.33 kills per set. She finished with a .481 attack percentage including two matches above .500. Dunkel added eight digs, 13 blocks and was named the tournament MVP of Crusader Classic.

Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Isabel Tanco
Catholic (Sr., South Irving, Texas)
Tanco helped Catholic to a season-opening 5-4 win over St. Vincent on Sunday. The senior won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and teamed up with Emma Needham to earn the 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
