Landmark Honors Second Semester Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has chosen fourteen student-athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective winter and spring sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities. It is the most exclusive award given out by the conference with just 20 honorees for each academic year.

Landmark Releases Spring All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2009 Spring Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically.

Scranton's Stallone Earns Academic All-America Honors
Chris Stallone (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield), a sophomore outfielder on The University of Scranton baseball team, has picked up another prestigious award—only this time for his exploits in the classroom.

Four Baseball Players Named To All-Region Team
Four Landmark Conference baseball players were honored with selections to the 2009 ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Teams. All four performers earned first-team honors, two from the Mid-Atlantic Region and two from the New York Region.

Landmark Baseball And Softball Players Earn Academic Honors
Four members of Landmark baseball and softball programs have been recognized for their successes on the field and in the classroom by earning spots on the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Teams. Three softball players and one baseball performer were honored with the selections.

Landmark Names Baseball All-Conference Team
Twenty-three student-athletes have been honored for their performances on the baseball diamond in the second season of Landmark Conference competition as they earned spots on the 2009 All-Landmark Conference Baseball Team as voted by the conference’s seven head coaches. The All-Landmark Team includes a first and second team with the voting done by position. The voting also took place prior to the start of the Landmark postseason.

Catholic Repeats As Landmark Baseball Champions
After being in the bottom half of the seeding again this year, The Catholic University baseball came from behind and won its second straight Landmark Conference title today, defeating Merchant Marine, 11-3.

Landmark Spring Sports Championships Kick Off On Tuesday
The Landmark Conference will conclude its second season of competition as conference postseason championships begin with semifinal action starting on Tuesday April 28 and Wednesday April 29. Postseason play will continue May 1 with championships being held on May 2 and May 3.

Landmark Recognizes 14 Players of the Week
With one Landmark sport holding its Championship and the remaining spring sports concluding Landmark regular-season competition, a total of 14 student-athletes have been chosen as Landmark Players of the Week. The Player of the Week selections are made by the Landmark office.

USMMA Earns Program's First Postseason Berth
The USMMA baseball team swept the University of Scranton in a conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon to clinch the third seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The Mariners took game one, 9-7 and won game two, 9-8. The victory in game two marked the first time in school history that they have earned a postseason birth and it also ties them for the most wins in a season in school history.

Fifteen hits and sixteen runs proved enough as The Catholic University baseball came out on top of a marathon game with St. Mary's, 16-14.

Junior pinch-hitter Rich Raiani (West Caldwell, N.J./Seton Hall Preparatory) delivered a two-run single during a four-run rally in the eighth inning to spark The University of Scranton baseball team to a 7-4 victory over cross-town neighbor Marywood University at Pacer Field Tuesday afternoon.

Crusaders Earn Right To Host Baseball Championship
Visiting Susquehanna University clinched the 2009 Landmark Conference regular-season baseball championship with a 17–5 Landmark win over the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Lower Roosevelt Field on April 19.

Mariners Knock Off Rival SUNY-Maritime
Mike Bybee went 4-for-4 with five runs batted in and hit his fourth homerun of the season to lead the USMMA baseball team in a 9-3 victory over SUNY Maritime. David May went 1-for-4 with a two run homerun to help out the Mariners while Doug Carter went 2-for-3 with a solo homerun.

The Moravian baseball extended its Landmark Conference winning streak to six games and kept its two-game lead in the conference standings with a 10-6 victory over host Drew University to complete a three-game sweep of the Rangers.

Mariners Ride Hot Offense To Win Over Catholic
Doug Carter knocks in four runs to lead the USMMA baseball team in a 10-4 win over Catholic University to take the series. The Mariners have now won all but one Landmark Conference series on the season.

Sophomore pitcher/infielder Justin Portzline (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) batted 3-for-5 with two runs, a double and a game-high four runs batted in to help lead Susquehanna University to an 11-7 non-conference win over visiting Frostburg State University at Harold Bollinger Field on April 7.

The University of Scranton baseball team is back in the playoff hunt in the Landmark Conference. Facing a must-win situation Sunday afternoon at Connell Park, the Royals got pitching gems from junior Todd McGee (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) and senior Charles Comprelli (Harrison, N.J./St. Peter’s Preparatory) in completing a three-game sweep of Drew University.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named Susquehanna University's senior pitcher/outfielder John Lunardi (Exton, Pa./Henderson) as its NCAA Division III Pitcher of the Week on April 2.

Drew Rallies For Rain-Shortened Win
The Drew baseball team trailed 6-0 after the first half inning, but came back to defeat Stevens Tech, 14-10 in a rain shortened game. The Rangers trailed 6-0 and 10-9 in the game, but came back both times to take the lead. Nixon Feliz drove in Xander Rich for the game tying run in the bottom of the fifth inning before scoring the winner on Pete Tuchol’s double.

Catholic Baseball Claims Walk-Off Victory
Back-to-Back blasts from Eamonn Burke (Roxbury/Boston Latin) and Pat Quintana (Denver/Littleton) in the sixth inning put the Catholic baseball team ahead and allowed for more late inning heroics from Joe Devine (Medford Lakes/Shawnee) in a 6-5 non-conference win over St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Greyhounds Rally To Collect Landmark Sweep
The Moravian baseball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit with a run in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh to post a 4-2 Landmark Conference victory over The University of Scranton at Gillespie Field as the Greyhounds finished off the three-game sweep of the Royals to remain in a tie for first place in the Landmark Conference.

Senior pitcher/outfielder John Lunardi (Exton, Pa./Henderson) pitched a perfect Game 1, literally, as Susquehanna University swept visiting Drew University, 9-0, 12-5, in a Landmark Conference doubleheader at Harold Bollinger Field on March 28.

Mariners Prevail In Rain-Shortened Game
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy baseball team won 10-8 against CCNY in a game that was called due to the weather after 6 ½ innings. Mike Bybee led the way for the Mariners going 3-for-3 with four runs batted in, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Doug Carter helped out going 1-for-3 with two runs batted in.

Sophomore infielder Erik Tuomisto (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) batted 3-for-3 with a grand slam and a game-high five runs batted in to help visiting Susquehanna University clobber The University of Scranton, 20-5, in a Landmark Conference game at Connell Park on March 22.

Martinez Comes Up Big For Juniata Baseball
Sophomore John Martinez (Mount Union, Pa./Mount Union) put four Juniata College runs on the scoreboard with his bat and then pitched the ninth inning for his first save of the season, to lead Juniata baseball to a 7-6 win over the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Wednesday afternoon at Langdon-Goodale Field.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy baseball team won its first conference series in big fashion with a 16-6 victory over Drew University. David May led the way with three hits in five at bats and knocked in three runs. Doug Carter went 4-for-6 with three runs and two runs batted in to help out on the day.

Tight Voting Puts Catholic At Top of Preseason Baseball Poll
After claiming the Landmark Baseball Championship last season The Catholic University of America baseball team has been selected as the favorite to earn the title in 2009 according to the Landmark Conference Preseason Baseball Poll. The baseball coaches and sports information directors at each institution that sponsors the sport were polled for the preseason ballot.

Greyhound Erupts For 25 Runs For First Victory
The Moravian baseball team pounded out 27 hits to earn its first win of the season, a 25-10 victory over Waynesburg University to finish off the team’s three-game trip to the Floyd B. Wilcox Memorial Tournament hosted by Hampden-Sydney College to begin the 2009 season.
