Seniors designated hitter/outfielder Austin Rock (Arlington, Va./Flour Bluff {Texas} HS) and pitcher Brendan Close (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom HS) have been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Baseball Teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Four Landmark Conference baseball players have been honored with selections to the 2012 American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region Teams. In addition, two players were named to the Regional Gold Glove Team.

Drew Will Face Host Kean In NCAA Baseball Regional
The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee announced this morning the 56 teams that will compete in the 2012 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. Recipients of an automatic berth, Drew University, will take on Kean University on Wednesday at FirstEngergy Park in Lakewood, N.J. at 7:45 p.m.

Senior Tom Murray (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) hit a one-out, walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give fourth seed, Drew University (22-19) a 10-9 victory over host and top seed Moravian College (28-16) on Monday afternoon at Gillepsie Field.

Top seed and host Moravian College survived its second elimination game of the day and moved to the championship round of the 2012 Landmark Conference Championship Tournament with a 10-3 win over second seed The United States Merchant Marine Academy in the final elimination game Sunday at Gillespie Field.

Drew Stuns Top Seed Moravian On Opening Day Of Baseball Postseason
In their first ever Landmark postseason appearance, the Drew baseball team shocked the #1 seed Moravian (26-15) this afternoon in 11 innings, 5-4. Pinch-hitter Matthew Hunter (Forest Hills, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) singled home the game-winning run in the top of the 11th inning for the Ranger victory.

Juniata College baseball's Joe Sforza (Pittstown, N.J./Immaculata) launched a two-run homer in the seventh inning that gave Juniata back the lead and sparked a few more runs to allow Juniata to end its four-game losing streaking with a 13-9 win over visiting Penn State Altoona Thursday afternoon.

In a game highlighted by offense, The University of Scranton baseball team got the big hits it needed late to rally past King’s College, 16-13, on Tuesday afternoon at Connell Park. Junior shortstop Tim LeCompte (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) led the way with two doubles, five RBIs and three runs scored for the Royals.

The Moravian College baseball team finished the three-game sweep of Landmark Conference foe Juniata College after a 27-5 victory Monday afternoon. Senior third baseman Gregg Steinman extended his hitting streak to ten games after going 1-for-4 with a RBI.

Crusaders Pick Up Non-Conference Win
The Susquehanna baseball team picked up its second straight win, as well as its third home win of the season, with a 7-3 win over visiting Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday afternoon. Three pitchers combined to give up one earned run while 10 hits from the Crusader bats provided more than enough offense.

The Moravian College baseball team defeated The Catholic University of America, 18-3, Sunday afternoon. Sophomore outfielder Joseph Connell led the way for the Greyhounds, going 5-for-6 with a triple, two doubles, three runs scored and four RBIs.

Rangers Rally For One-Run Win
Despite seven errors in the field, the Rangers offense scored double-digit runs for the second-straight game to defeat Fitchburg State (0-4), 10-9 this morning at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. Sophomore Pat Lydon (Cumberland, R.I./Mount St. Charles Academy) hit a two-run single in the top of the eighth to put the Rangers ahead for good.
