The Landmark Conference is full of talented student-athletes and the "Friday Focus" is just one way fans can get to know them. This week the conference introduces Michael Gaeta, University of Scranton baseball player.
Gaeta is a senior outfielder for the Royals. A three-year letterwinner, Gaeta has played in 115 games with 108 starts. Last year he earned First Team All-Landmark honors after hitting .284 with eight doubles, two triples, 26 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He helped Scranton reach the Landmark Championship series as the No. 4 seed before the Royals finished as runner-up. Gaeta boasts a career batting average of .298.

Major: Physical Therapy
Why did you choose to attend Scranton?
The University of Scranton provided me with an opportunity to pursue a physical therapy degree while also playing baseball at the collegiate level.
Who has been the most influential person in your athletic career? Why?
My dad is the most influential person in my athletic career because he is always pushing me to get better every day and has supported me so much throughout my baseball career.
What was your most embarrassing sports moment?
I remember running out to the outfield in between innings and one of my spikes got caught in my shoelace and I ended up falling on my face in the infield.
What is something most people do not know about you?
I can solve a Rubik's Cube in under 2 minutes.
Who was your favorite athlete as a child and why?
Derek Jeter is my favorite athlete because he plays the game of baseball the right way and has done so throughout his entire career. Growing up as a Yankees fan, it was very easy to want to be like him.
