Field Hockey Athletes Earn Regional Honors

MADISON, N.J. - Five members of Landmark Conference field hockey teams have been recognized as members of the 2007 Longstretch/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region Teams which were released on Monday. The teams are made up of 16-player first and second teams from six regions.
The Catholic University of America senior Michele Repass was a first-team selection from the South Region, while Juniata College seniors Michelle Campbell and Kim Wagner were first team honorees from the South Atlantic Region. Teammate Heather Hassinger earned second-team honors from that region and Drew University sophomore Nicole DiBattista was also selected to the second team. All-five student-athletes were named to the All-Landmark Field Hockey Team earlier in the season, and each also helped their team claim a spot in the Landmark postseason.
Repass was a first-team All-Conference pick after scoring nine goals and passing out five assists on the season. She ranked sixth in the conference in goals and points, and helped Catholic finish first in the regular-season conference standigns.
Campbell was a first-team All-Landmark choice as a midfielder. She was second on the Eagles, and third in the conference, with 11 goals and added one assist for 25 points. She also helped Juniata's defense post a 1.00 goals against average.
Wagner was the Landmark Offensive Player of the Year after she led the conference in goals, points and assists. She found the goal 24 times herself, while adding 12 assists which was good for 60 points.
DiBattista was an All-Conference pick as a midfielder and contributed offense and defense for the Rangers. She scored a pair of goals and also dished out six assists to rank third on the Drew team with 10 points. She also had a defensive save and helped the team to a 1.85 goals against average.
Hassinger was the Landmark Co-Defensive Player of the Year in her senior season. She captured one defensive save on the year, and played a major defensive role in helping Juniata post 11 shutouts. She also had five goals and seven assists offensively for the Eagles.
The Landmark Conference sent two teams to the postseason this fall with Juniata advancing to the NCAA Regional finals while Catholic earned an ECAC South Region postseason bid.
