December 18, 2008Landmark Honors Six Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has chosen six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.

Susquehanna Leads President's All-Sports Cup Standings After Fall Season
On the strength of claiming three Landmark Conference Championships during the fall, Susquehanna University sits atop the Landmark Presidents All-Sports Cup standings after the completion of the fall sports season. With six of the Landmarks 20 sports having finished their seasons, Susquehanna is atop the standings with a score of 7.67. Juniata College, who was in first place in the fall of the 2007 season sits in second place with 7.00 points. The University of Scranton and The Catholic University of America round out the top half of the standings with 6.08 and 5.92 points respectively.

Thirty-Two Student-Athletes Named To Fall All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2008 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark fall sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Landmark Announces Fall Academic Honor Roll
The Landmark Conference has recognized 354 student-athletes by selecting them for the 2008 Fall Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions.

Catholic's Dixon Earns All-America Honors
Catholic University senior Ro Dixon (Ardmore, Pa./Country Day Sacred Heart) was named to the 2008 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Field Hockey All-American third team.

Landmark Names Field Hockey All-Conference Team
Twenty-four student-athletes have been recognized by the Landmark Conference as members of the 2008 All-Landmark Conference Field Hockey Team, as selected by the seven Landmark head field hockey coaches. The All-Landmark Team includes a first and second team with 12 honorees on each team, with the selections being made by position. The voting for the All-Conference Team took place after the conclusion of the regular season and prior to the start of the Landmark postseason.

Fall Season Will Conclude With Championship Saturday
The second fall sports season in Landmark Conference history will come to a close on Saturday Nov. 8 as the conference holds championships in four sports. Championship matches will be held in field hockey, mens and womens soccer and volleyball at the site of the highest seed remaining in the four-team postseasons.

Schedule Is Set For Landmark Fall Postseason
Four Landmark Conference fall sports will begin conference postseason play this week, following the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday. Semifinal competition in field hockey, men's soccer and women's soccer, along with quarterfinals in women's volleyball will take place on Wednesday Nov. 5, with conference championships to be played on Saturday Nov. 8.

Greyhound Field Hockey Rallies For Win
Junior forward Julie Bisci scored a pair of goals while junior midfielder Damara Varney and sophomore forward Becky Renaldo each added a goal and an assist to lead the Moravian College field hockey team from a 2-0 deficit with 23 minutes to play to a 4-2 non-conference victory over Richard Stockton College of New Jersey at Betty Prince Field. The match was Moravian's final non-conference contest of the season.

Collini's Tallies Push Drew Past Vassar
For the third time this season, Lauren Collini scored a pair of goals to lead the Drew field hockey team to a victory. The senior tallied once in each half and Elizabeth Law added the third on a penalty stroke as Drew defeated Vassar, 3-1, at Ranger Stadium.

Penalty Strokes Push Drew Field Hockey Past Juniata
The Drew field hockey team pulled out a key Landmark Conference win with a double overtime, extra strokes win at Juniata 1-1 (6-5 PS). Nicole DiBattista scored Drews regular time goal and Elizabeth Law had the clinching successful stroke in the extra periods. Stef Rutkowski made ten saves in goal for the Rangers who improved to 7-7, 1-1 in the Landmark with the win.

Rangers Roll Past Goucher In Landmark Opener
Drew field hockey dominated en route to a 4-0 win in their Landmark Conference opener over Goucher. The Rangers took a 1-0 lead into the break thanks to Megan Howletts goal before finishing off the game with three goals in the second half, two courtesy of Lauren Collini. The Ranger defense didnt allow a shot in the game. Drew improved to 6-4, 1-0 in the Landmark, while the Gophers fell to 3-6, 0-1.

The Susquehanna University athletics department has hired five new assistant coaches in four different sports for the 200809 academic year. The new hires include field hockey assistants Allison Fordyce and alumna Jess Weiss 08, mens lacrosse assistant Andy German, women's soccer assistant Krista Liotti and women's volleyball assistant Alison Messner.

The Catholic University of Americas field hockey team has been picked as the favorite to claim the Landmark Conference field hockey championship as selected in the Landmark Preseason Womens Field Hockey Poll. The head field hockey coaches and sports information directors at each institution that sponsors the sport were polled for the preseason ballot.
