Catholic's Dixon Earns All-America Honors
CHANDLER, Az. - Catholic University senior Ro Dixon (Ardmore,
Pa./Country Day Sacred Heart) was named to the 2008
Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Field Hockey All-American third
team
Following in footsteps of Andi Snyder (2001), Stephanie Roselle
(2003), Jamie Punyko (2005), and Jayme Dinsmore (2006). Dixon is
the fifth Cardinal field hockey player to earn All-American status
since 1969. All five were selected to the third team.
Dixon was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the
Year in addition to her first team all-conference accolade before
being named by the NFHCA to All-Region First Team status and now to
All-American status. As the defensive mainstay for a team ranked
#11 nationally (NCAA) and first in the Landmark in goals against
average, Dixon has notched eight defensive saves this season.
A balanced player who is key on offensive corners, she also leads
the team in goals and ranks tied for first in assists. This year,
the senior co-captain was also named to the National Field Hockey
Coaches Senior All-Star game in addition to being named Landmark
player of the week twice - once on offense and on defense. Dixon
also played in the NFHCA Senior All Star game at Ursinus before the
Division III national championship game.
