Landmark Releases First Sportsmanship Cup Standings
Following the completion of the fall sports season the Juniata College sits atop the standings for the inaugural Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Sportsmanship Cup.

Landmark Honors Fall Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has selected six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities. The award is the most exclusive awarded by the Conference with just 20 honorees for each academic year.

Meghan McGlone Represents Landmark On All-America Team
The awards continue to pile on for Juniata College sophomore Meghan McGlone (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) as she was named to the 2009 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-American Third Team, announced November 25.

Landmark Announces President's All-Sports Cup Fall Standings
For the second time in as many year Susquehanna University has jumped to the top of the Landmark President’s All Sports Cup standings after the fall sports season. With six of the Landmark’s 20 sports having completed their seasons, Susquehanna leads the standings with a score of 7.33. Juniata College sits in second place with 6.67 points while The Catholic University is a narrow .17 points back in third with a score of 6.5. Rounding out the top half of the standings is The University of Scranton with 5.5 points.

Landmark Releases Fall All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced the selection of 32 student-athletes to the 2009 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark fall sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Landmark Conference has recognized 369 student-athletes by selecting them for the 2009 Fall Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions.

Six Landmark Players Earn Spots On Field Hockey All-Region Team
Six student-athletes from Landmark field hockey teams were selected to the 2009 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region Teams. It marks the third consecutive season the Landmark has placed at least five representatives on the All-Region squad.

Tory Gagliardi led Catholic University with two goals, as CUA (12-6) defeated Kean University (11-5) in the opening round of the ECAC field hockey tournament, 3-1 on Wednesday.

First Half Goals Too Much For Juniata Field Hockey In NCAA
The Juniata College field hockey team traveled to Lynchburg College to take on the Hornets in the first round of the 2009 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships. They also had to battle the remains of Hurricane Ida, as the Eagles lost a rain drenched matchup, 5-3 on Wednesday evening.

Landmark Selects 2009 Field Hockey All-Conference Team
Twenty-four student-athletes have been recognized by the Landmark Conference as members of the 2009 All-Landmark Conference Field Hockey Team, as selected by the seven Landmark head field hockey coaches. The All-Landmark Team includes a first and second team with 12 honorees on each team, with the selections being made by position. The voting for the All-Conference Team took place after the conclusion of the regular season and prior to the start of the Landmark postseason.

Landmark Sending Five Teams To NCAA Tournaments
Five Landmark Conference fall sport teams will represent the conference in 2009 NCAA Division III Tournament play beginning Wednesday Nov. 11. With Landmark Champions earning automatic bids for the first time, the champions in field hockey, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball all earned bids, while one other Landmark team was selected to the field as an at-large participant.

In the brief history of the Landmark Conference, there has only been one field hockey team that has felt the success of winning the championship. Drew Gets Past Ranked Foe In Overtime
An incredible team effort and Elizabeth Law’s Golden Goal helped the Rangers overcome some goaltending heroics by Stevens’ Ellyn Griggs to upset the #15 Ducks, 3-2. Drew trailed 2-0 early in the first half before rallying to force overtime through Meghan Howlett’s goal late in the second half. After Griggs singlehandedly kept the Rangers at bay throughout the OT periods, Law, thanks to a great play by Nicole DiBattista, won it in the 95th minute of play. Drew improves to 9-3 on the season while the Ducks fall to 9-2.

Top Spot In Landmark Field Hockey Preseason Poll Belongs To Catholic
In each of the first two seasons of Landmark competition, The Catholic University of America has finished atop the regular season standings. It is a position they are favored to be at the end of season number-three as the Cardinals claimed the top spot in the Landmark Preseason Field Hockey Poll. The head field hockey coaches and sports information directors at each institution that sponsors the sport were polled for the preseason ballot.
