Meghan McGlone Represents Landmark On All-America Team
HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The awards continue to pile on for Juniata
College sophomore Meghan McGlone (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh)
as she was named to the 2009 Longstreth/National Field Hockey
Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-American Third Team,
announced November 25.
As a back, McGlone recorded 10 defensive saves, three goals and
three assists. She helped lead the Eagles to a 17-4 overall record,
their third straight Landmark Conference championship and an
automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Field Hockey
Championship.
In addition to the team success this season, McGlone earned the
Defensive Player of the Year Award in the Landmark Conference as
well as a repeat first team honoree. In her first season, she was
named as the Conference's Rookie of the Year, including a first
team selection.
McGlone then earned a spot on the 2009 Longstreth/NFHCA Division
III All South Atlantic Region First Team before being voted as an
All American.
Messiah College's Julie Barton was named as the 2009 Division III
National Player of the Year as she helped her Falcons to a
Runner-up finish in 2009.
Salisbury University claimed the ultimate prize with a 1-0 victory
over Messiah in the Championship game. It was the fifth title for
the Seagulls field hockey program.
