Two Landmark Players Chosen For NFHCA Senior Game
MADISON, N.J. - A pair of Landmark Conference senior field hockey players were among the 38 players chosen to take part in the 210 NFHCA Division III Senior Game which will be held Sunday, November 21st at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va.
The Catholic University senior defender Liz Grumbein and Juniata College senior forward Paula Price were both picked to take part in the match.
Grumbein has helped lead the Cardinals to new levels of success this season as CUA is currently ranked 14th in the nation with a record of 13-3. A native of Allentown, Pa., Grumbein has started all 16 games for CUA and been the leader of a defense that has posted eight shutouts and ranks first in the Landmark Conference in scoring margin, shutouts, goals against average, goals allowed, and goals allowed per game. For her career, Grumbein has started 54 games for the Cardinals and she earned All-Region and All-Conference accolades in 2009.
Price was the Landmark Offensive Player of the Year last season and is a three-time All-Conference choice as a forward. She also earned All-Region honors last season from the NFHCA and helped Juniata capture its third-straight Landmark Conference Championship. In her senior season she has scored a team-high 15 goals, including five match-winning scores, and also leads the team with 35 points. With her efforts Juniata is currently ranked 17th in the NFHCA Division III poll with a record of 15-4 and the team was 6-0 in conference play during the season.
Catholic and Juniata will both be in action on Wednesday as the Landmark postseason begins with semifinal play. Catholic claimed the third seed and will travel to face Susquehanna University, while Juniata is the top seed and welcomes Drew University for a semifinal.
