TOWSON, Md. – The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, and sports information directors. Chosen at the end of each sport season, the first six honorees will be announced over the next two weeks.
Juniata College's Emma Dahmus has been named the Field Hockey Senior Scholar Athlete. Dahmus wrapped up her career last month as a three-time All-Landmark selection. She was named to the First Team the past two seasons and this year was named the Landmark Offensive Player of the Year. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association named Dahmus a Second Team All-Region honoree and a Senior All-Star.
A team captain for the Eagles, Dahmus racked up 17 goals and 15 assists as a four-year starter in the midfield. She is ranked in the Juniata all-time record book for points (49) and assists.
Originally from Hummelstown, Pa., Dahmus boasts a cumulative grade point average of 3.58 while majoring in biology with a minor in religious studies. She is a three-time Landmark Honor Roll selection and a member of last year's Landmark All-Academic Team.
Dahmus is also the Co-President of Juniata's chapter of Colleges Against Cancer and the Director of Special Events for Special Olympics. She has worked on team recruitment and development for Relay for Life and spent time volunteering at the Huntingdon Humane Society. Earlier this year Dahmus received The Clarence R. Pentz Endowed Pre-Medical Scholarship.
