Nine Men's Soccer Players Earn All-Region Honors

MADISON, N.J. - Nine Landmark Conference men's soccer players
closed their season by earning spots on the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America/Adidas All-Region Teams. The conference
earned one player on the first team, three on the second team and
four on the third team.
Drew senior defender Dan Bonder was the Landmark's first-team
honoree. His teammate, junior forward Greg Zizik earned second-team
honors, along with Susquehanna senior defender Isaac Laubach and
USMMA senior Chris Flanagan. On the third team were USMMA junior
Clint Foster, Susquehanna sophomore Jim Robertiello, Catholic
junior Matt Brady and Scranton seniors John Postel and Tim
Logan.
Bonder earns the second All-Regional selection of his career by
being named as one of the top three defenders in the Mid-Atlantic
following his stellar senior season. For the second straight
season, the Whippany Park, N.J. native was a first team
All-Landmark Conference selection. Bonder started every game and
rarely came off the field. He chipped in a goal and two assists
this season while serving as a key member of Drew’s dominant
defense.
Greg Zizik was named to the Mid-Atlantic’s second team as a
forward. The Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year
0207msccrled the conference in both goals (16) and points (41). The
junior also led both categories in in-conference play with nine and
21, respectively. His 41 points place him 20th in the NCAA while he
ranks 29th in goals per game. His nine assists place him second in
the Landmark Conference and 58th in the NCAA.
Flanagan was a second-team All-Landmark pick in his senior season.
He compiled 10 assists and eight goals to lead the Mariners in
total points for the season. He finished first over all in the
conference in total assists, fourth in total points with 26 and
seventh in goals. Flanagan finishes his career with 25 assists and
21 goals for 67 totals points.
Laubach was a co-captain and the top defender on a Susquehanna
team that captured its first-ever conference championship and NCAA
championships appearance in 2008. He started all 21 games this
season while earning his fourth all–conference honor,
including three times as a first-teamer, when he landed on the
all–Landmark Conference first team. He was the Landmark's
Defensive Player of the Year this season.
Foster was a first-team All-Conference performer in his junior
season for the Mariners. He finished the 2008 season with eight
goals and seven assists to place him second in total points on the
team. He ended the season third in assists in the conference, sixth
in points with 23 and seventh in goals. Foster also had three game
winning goals to place him third in the conference.
Robertiello played in 20 games this year with 19 starts and led
Susquehanna with 12 goals, six assists and 30 points. He also
scored three game-winning goals. He earned his second
all–conference honor this year when he landed on the
all–Landmark first team. He was the Landmark's Rookie of the
Year last season.
Also a first team All-Landmark Conference choice this year,
Brady, was named to the third team and is the first all-region
player for Catholic since Dino Bulautian was named to the second
team in 1999. Brady finished the 2008 campaign with 14 goals, and
seven assists for 35 points, including seven game winners.
Logan earns All-Region recognition for the third time in his
career after a strong final season. He was also a four-team
All-Conference performer. This past season, he led the Royals in
scoring for the fourth straight year with 23 total points (8 goals,
7 assists), joining two-time all-American Cedric deSilva as the
only players in Scranton history to accomplish this feat.
Postel started 16 matches on a Royal defensive unit that held five
opponents scoreless and six others to only one goal apiece this
past fall. He played in 66 matches in his career and contributed
five goals, including two this season, and four assists for 14
total points. He was a two-time All-Landmark selection as a
defender.
The Landmark Conference had two men's soccer teams qualify for the
NCAA Tournament, and another earn ECAC postseason qualification.
