Moravian Hires New Men's Soccer Coach
BETHLEHEM, PA - Todd Ervin has been named the head coach of the
Moravian College men’s soccer team, effective February
24th.
“We are excited to have coach Ervin join our staff as we move
to have each of our soccer programs with a dedicated coach,”
said Moravian College Director of Athletics Paul Moyer. “He
brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. I am
confident that Todd has the ability, knowledge and desire to build
upon our strong men’s soccer tradition well into the
future.”
Eric Lambinus, who has served as the head coach of both the
Moravian men’s and women’s programs for the last ten
seasons, is remaining on the Greyhound staff as the head
women’s soccer coach. The soccer coaching position had been a
combined staffing spot since 1995, the year after the women’s
team became a varsity sport.
Ervin becomes just the seventh men's soccer coach at Moravian as
the program is set to begin its 46th season in 2009. The Greyhounds
have a 387-321-53 all-time record.
Ervin has most recently served as the head coach of the
Pennsylvania Stoners of the National Premier Soccer League for the
last two years. His 2008 Stoners team was the National Premier
Soccer League National Champions with players from local Division
I, II and III colleges as well as former professional players.
Ervin has resigned his position with the Stoners since the NCAA
does not permit coaches to coach their players in the off season,
and Moravian usually has at least one player on the Stoners
roster.
Ervin was an assistant with the Moravian men’s program for
three seasons, from 2004 to 2006, and he was also the head coach
for the Cedar Crest College women’s soccer team for the last
two seasons.
Ervin has both his National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA) Advanced Regional License and his NSCAA National Diploma
having graduated with distinction. After graduating from Muhlenberg
College as a three-time NSCAA Regional All-American in 1998, Ervin
went on to play three seasons with the New Jersey Barons
Professional Soccer team in the NPSL, and since 2001, has played in
the Lehigh Valley Soccer League.
While a student-athlete at Muhlenberg, Ervin helped the Mules to
the NCAA Division III National Tournament each of his four seasons
with a trip to the Final Four in 1995. The squad also won three
Centennial Conference Championships, and Ervin was a three-time
All-Centennial Conference honoree.
