Landmark Releases First Sportsmanship Cup Standings
Following the completion of the fall sports season the Juniata College sits atop the standings for the inaugural Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Sportsmanship Cup.

Five Players Earn Men's Soccer All-Region Honors
The Landmark Conference placed five men's soccer players on the 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region Team from the Mid-Atlantic Region which was announced early this month. The Landmark has placed at least five players on All-Region Teams each of its three seasons.

Landmark Honors Fall Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has selected six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities. The award is the most exclusive awarded by the Conference with just 20 honorees for each academic year.

Three Landmark Men's Soccer Players Named All-Americans
Three members of Landmark men's soccer teams earned the highest individual honor of All-American as selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association Division All-America Team. This marks the first year the Landmark placed more than one player on the All-America Team.

Landmark Announces President's All-Sports Cup Fall Standings
For the second time in as many year Susquehanna University has jumped to the top of the Landmark President’s All Sports Cup standings after the fall sports season. With six of the Landmark’s 20 sports having completed their seasons, Susquehanna leads the standings with a score of 7.33. Juniata College sits in second place with 6.67 points while The Catholic University is a narrow .17 points back in third with a score of 6.5. Rounding out the top half of the standings is The University of Scranton with 5.5 points.

Landmark Releases Fall All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced the selection of 32 student-athletes to the 2009 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark fall sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Landmark Conference has recognized 369 student-athletes by selecting them for the 2009 Fall Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions.

After winning the Landmark Conference title a week ago, the Catholic men's soccer team fell in the opening round of the NCAA tournament to Lynchburg College, 3-0 on Saturday.

Overtime Goal Sends Drew To ECAC Championship Match
Drew men’s soccer advanced to the ECAC Metro Tournament Championship match by winning a thrilling game against Richard Stockton, 3-2, at Rutgers-Newark in overtime. The Rangers trailed 1-0 before a pair of Greg Zizik goals gave Drew the 2-1 lead. The Ospreys tied it up with just minutes to go. Anthony Pisani scored the game’s Golden Goal in the eighth minute of overtime.

Mariners Can't Solve Swarthmore In NCAA Tournament
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy soccer team lost a hard fought first round NCAA Division III Tournament game, 2-1 to Swarthmore College. The Mariners had many chances to tie the game or take the lead but were unable to capitalize on their chances. Senior Rusty Denson netted the Mariners only goal of the game in the losing effort.

Landmark Honors Men's Soccer All-Conference Team
The Landmark Conference has honored twenty-four student-athletes with selections to the to the 2009 All-Landmark Conference Men’s Soccer team as voted by the conference’s eight head coaches. The inaugural All-Landmark Team includes a first and second team with 12 honorees on each team, with the selections being made by position. The voting for the All-Conference Team took place after the conclusion of the regular season and prior to the start of the Landmark postseason.

Landmark Sending Five Teams To NCAA Tournaments
Five Landmark Conference fall sport teams will represent the conference in 2009 NCAA Division III Tournament play beginning Wednesday Nov. 11. With Landmark Champions earning automatic bids for the first time, the champions in field hockey, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball all earned bids, while one other Landmark team was selected to the field as an at-large participant.

Catholic Earns Program's First Men's Soccer Title
The Catholic University men's soccer team (16-3-1) defeated the University of Scranton (12-6-2) to earn the teams first ever Landmark Conference title as well as the first NCAA tournament berth in program history. The Cardinals defeated the Royals, 3-0.

With Landmark postseason play beginning to determine the conference's first automatic qualifiers, a handful of conference teams remained in good position in the NCAA Regional Rankings released Wednesday. These are the final regional rankings that will be released before the NCAA Division III Tournament fields will be released Sunday Nov. 8 and Monday Nov. 9.

These were the second regional rankings released by the respective NCAA Division III Sport Committee. There will be one more set of rankings released prior to the NCAA Championship selection.

Daly Earns Fifth Shutout In Cardinals' Men's Soccer Win
A late goal by Catholic University junior Tyler Bills (Fountainville, Pa./Central Bucks East) proved to be the deciding factor in Tuesday's 1-0 men's soccer victory over Wesley College. The Cardinals now stand at 13-3-1 on the year, 4-1-1 in the Landmark Conference. Wesley drops to 10-8 on the year.

Mariners Win Regular Season Finale On Late Goal
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy soccer team won its 15th game in the last 16 games with a 2-1 victory over Goucher College. With the victory the Mariners clinched at least the number two seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The Mariners outshot the Goucher 18-10. Senior Tri-Captain Benjamin Inouye netted both goals for the Mariners.

Once again Drew’s defense was so good that one goal was plenty as the Rangers won a crucial conference match, 1-0, at USMMA on Wednesday night. Greg Zizik’s brilliant 30-yard free kick goal in the first half was held up by Drew’s 12th shutout of the season.

Another dominant performance for the Ranger defense allowed the Drew offense the time to find the winner as Matthew Greenberg’s goal came in the 87th minute. Drew Men's Soccer Breaks Through With Six Goals
After a long draught, Drew men’s soccer produced a deluge of goals in a 6-0 win over York (N.Y.) . It took just four minutes for Drew to grab an advantage and just five more to add a second. Freshmen Sam Nepveux and Phillip Mabeka each scored their first collegiate goals while veterans Vincent Costa, Jesse Puzio and Marc Chiarello also found the back of the net. For the Cardinals, Brian Broadbelt made 21 saves in goal.

Goucher defeated McDaniel in the sport of men's soccer for the first time since 1993 today by taking a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Elijah Lais (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) and Andrew Bull (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) and then turning to Evan Rosse (Concord, Mass./Bedford) for some insurance in a 4-1 win.

After finishing atop the regular season standings in 2008 the Drew University men’s soccer team has been picked as the favorite to claim the 2009 crown as selected in the Landmark Preseason Men’s Soccer Poll. The head men’s soccer coaches and sports information directors at each institution that sponsors the sport were polled for the preseason ballot.
