WASHINGTON – The Cardinals closed out their regular season with an 8-1 win over Juniata on Friday afternoon. CUA swept the singles matches with Cassian Utrie, Jean Paul Roman, Brian Bradley, Joe Peters, Kyle Kramer and Jason Quisberth picking up wins, while Utrie and Roman, along with Peters and Kramer earned doubles wins.
Utrie got CUA going with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Justin Wisniewski at the first singles flight, while Roman downed Elliott Perow 6-4, 6-1 at the second flight.
Bradley picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brice Morey at third singles and Peters defeated Tucker Good 6-4, 7-5 in a hard-fought match at the fourth flight.
At fifth singles, Kramer came away with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Matthew Butler and Quisberth closed singles play out with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Andrew Hoffman.
In doubles action, Utrie and Peters won the first flight point with an 8-2 win over Perow and Good, while Peters and Kramer downed Butler and Hoffman 8-2 at the third flight.
Juniata's lone point of the afternoon came from Wisniewski and Morey at the second flight, when they defeated Bradley and Quisberth 8-5.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Wednesday when they compete in the Landmark Conference Tournament semifinals against Scranton in Pa. The second-seeded Royals defeated the No. 3 seed CUA 6-3 on April 5 in Pennsylvania. Match time is TBA.
