Spring Athletes Earn A Host Of ECAC Honors
A total of 14 Landmark Conference spring sport student-athletes earned spots on ECAC All-Star Teams. The Landmark placed five recipients on both the baseball and softball teams to go along with three women's lacrosse honorees and one men's lacrosse selection.

Landmark Announces Spring Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has selected eight student-athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective spring sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the spring sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.

Landmark Announces Spring All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2008 Spring Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically.

Landmark Names Spring Academic Honor Roll
A total of 363 student-athletes have been recognized for their success in athletic competition and in the classroom as they have been named to the 2008 Spring Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions.

Landmark Athletes Pick Up Academic Honors
A pair of Landmark Conference athletes from spring sports have earned places on ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Teams. University of Scranton sophomore Justin Champagne was a first-team selection for the academic all-district baseball team, while Moravian jnuior Erica Klepeisz was a third-team choice in softball.

Moravian Blanks Catholic To Win Softball Title
Junior pitcher Maria DeBonis tossed her third shutout of the tournament to lead Moravian to the inaugural Landmark Conference title with a 7-0 win over third seeded The Catholic University of America in the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament at Moravian’s Blue & Grey Field Saturday afternoon.

Landmark To Crown Spring Sports Champions
The first season of Landmark Conference competition will conclude with four spring sports competing for Landmark Championships May 3-4. The men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse and softball championships will all be decided Saturday May 3, while the Landmark baseball postseason will conclude on Sunday May 4.

Softball All-Conference Team Selected
With the inaugural regular season now complete 22 student-athletes have been named to the 2008 All-Landmark Conference Softball Team as voted by the conference’s seven head coaches. The All-Landmark Team includes a first and second team with 12 selections on each team. The voting for the team was done by position.

With several sports crowning conference champions and other closing out their regular season the Landmark Conference has picked 14 spring sports athletes as Players of the Week. The Landmark Conference Player of the Week selections are made by the Landmark office.

USMMA Sweeps Season-Ending Twinbill
The United States Merchant Marine Academy softball team ended its season on a winning note after sweeping a doubleheader against Baruch College on Sunday afternoon. The Mariners won both games by scores of 6-0 and 4-3. Jesselyn LaValley pitched her third shutout of the season in game one, and Marjorie Marino was the winning pitcher in the final outing of her career in the second game.

Split Is Enough To Lead Cardinals To Postseason
The Catholic University softball team (14-16, 6-6 Landmark) came back to win the second game of a Landmark Conference doubleheader with the Juniata College Eagles (21-16, 3-8 Landmark). The Cards dropped the first game 2-0 but came back with a 5-0 win in the second. The split gives CUA a berth in the Landmark Conference tournament in the fourth spot which will be played next weekend at Moravian.

Scranton Softball Claims Record-Setting Sweep
The University of Scranton swept Richard Stockton College in a non-conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Tripp Park. With the wins, the Royals improve to 23-9 overall and eclipsed the previous school-record of 21 wins set by the 1980 team under then head coach Gary Wodder.

Rangers Earn Win And Tie Against USMMA
The Drew softball team earned sort of a sweep against the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Drew won the first game, 9-2, behind a well pitched game from Lauren Collini and a grand slam by Katie Mulligan. In the second game, Drew rallied for three runs in bottom of the seventh to tie it at 4-4, but neither team scored for the next three innings before the game was called due to darkness. Drew is now 15-14-1 on the season and 4-3-1 in the Landmark Conference.

Moravian Wins Battle Of Landmark Unbeatens
Moravian captured its 16th straight victory and moved into sole possession of first place in the Landmark Conference with an 11-0, six-inning victory over The University of Scranton behind a perfect game from freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python. In game two the Greyhounds swept their eighth consecutive doubleheader and clinched a postseason berth for the 14th straight year with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory.

Royals Continue To Roll
The University of Scranton softball team extended its season-long winning streak to 14 games by sweeping Catholic University in Landmark Conference action Sunday afternoon. In the process, the Royals reach the 20-win plateau for the first time since 1991 and for the fourth time in school history.

The University of Scranton softball team extended its winning streak to 10 games by posting back-to-back shutouts of Lycoming College in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.

Juniata Softball Soars Past Elizabethtown
With 11 hits in the first game the Juniata College softball team downed Elizabethtown College 6-1, to open their doubleheader Wednesday afternoon in Huntingdon, Pa. Despite a pitching change for each team in inning two of the second game, Juniata completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory, grabbing the win and improving their record to 13-12 overall and 5-3 in the Landmark Conference.

The Susquehanna softball team lost an extra-inning game one of a doubleheader against Landmark Conference opponent Drew before winning the second game by a 5-1 final.

Moravian Gets Two Gems To Sweep Twinbill
The Greyhound softball team swept their third straight doubleheader and their seventh game in a row overall behind the first career no-hitter by freshman Elizabeth Python as Moravian defeated Albright College, 9-0 in five innings, in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader. Junior sophomore Maria DeBonis tossed her second perfect game of the season in a 3-0 win in game one.

Offense Powers Drew To Softball Sweep
Drew softball swept the College of Staten Island in the Rangers’ home openers on Monday. April Jacobs twirled her second straight gem and some big time hitting got Drew a 7-4 win in the nightcap. Jacobs went all five innings giving up just two hits as Drew won the first game 8-0. The Rangers (9-9) got two more homeruns today, one each from Jesyka Marko and Kati Eggert.

Scranton Softball Starts Trip In Fine Fashion
The University of Scranton belted out 22 hits in posting victories over Mitchell College (Conn.), 7-4, and Gordon College (Mass.), 15-9, in the first two games of an 8-game Spring Break trip Monday morning.

Cardinals Trap Squirrels In Softball Sweep
The Catholic University softball squad (6-4) began its home schedule on the right foot Saturday with a pair of wins, including a no hitter, over the Mary Baldwin College Fighting Squirrels (0-7). The Cardinals won the first game 9-1 and blanked them in the second contest 10-0. Both games of the doubleheader were only five innings with such a large CUA lead.

No-Hitter Sparks Moravian To Sweep
Moravian earned a 9-0, five-inning victory over Baptist Bible College in the first game of the Greyhounds first home doubleheader of the 2008 season at Blue & Grey Field. Junior pitcher Maria DeBonis tossed her second career no-hitter in the game for Moravian, striking out nine batters and allowing one walk. The Greyhounds followed by winning game two 8-0 to earn the sweep.

Crusaders Sweep Finale On Spring Break Trip
The Susquehanna University softball team closed out its eight-game season-opening trip to the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex with a pair of wins against the University of Rochester and Alvernia College. Susquehanna won the opener 8-2 and went on to beat Alvernia in eight innings by a score of 8-4.

Mariners Nab First Win of 2008
The United States Merchant Marine Academy softball team continued to improve with every contest and split a pair of games in Kissimmee, Fla. on Monday morning. The squad lost its opening game by an 8-3 score to Aurora, the reigning champion of the Northern Athletics Conference. In game two, the Mariners defeated Misericordia by a score of 7-3.

Sophomore pitcher Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS) and sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS) of the Moravian College softball team have been named to the 2007 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Southern All-Star Team.

Moravian Softball Staff Receives Regional Honor
Moravian College head softball coach John Byrne and his staff of assistant coaches Ron Cardinal, Rachel Mowrey, Geoffrey Deen, Mark Bentz and Heather Bortz have been named the 2007 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III East Region Coaching Staff of the Year announced on July 2nd by the NFCA.

Cassie Arroyo Named New USMMA Softball Coach
After completing a short stint as the Sports Information Director and Assistant Coach of the softball team at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Cassie Arroyo was recently named Senior Woman Administrator and Head Softball Coach. The announcement was made by Athletic Director Sue Petersen Lubow. Arroyo also becomes the first person to hold the title of Senior Woman Administrator at the Academy and will oversee the Sports Information Department.

Landmark Conference Ready To Begin Competition
More than 18 months after its formation, the Landmark Conference will begin competition in the coming months. The eight-member Division III conference will have official competition and will crown champions beginning in the Fall of 2007.
