USMMA Adds Assistant Swim Coach

KINGS POINT, N.Y. - Olga Wojcik has been named Assistant Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Coach at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, as it has been announced by Head Coach Sean Tedesco. She comes to the Academy after serving a one-year stint as an assistant coach of the Colby College men's and women's swimming programs in which she helped guide both clubs to strong finishes at the NCAA Championships this past winter.

"We are very excited to have an assistant of Coach Olga Wojcik's background and experience on our staff," said Head Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Coach Sean Tedesco. "She will be a great fit for our program as we continue to grow and compete on the national level."

Wojcik's responsibilities at Colby included deck coaching, technique analysis, identification and recruitment of prospective student athletes and organization of team travel. She helped guide the women's and men's programs to place 13th and 35th overall, respectively, at the 2007 NCAA Championships. The women's program also produced six All-Americans.

She graduated cum laude with her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from the University at Buffalo where she was also a member of the women's swimming and diving team which competes at the Division I level in the Mid-American Conference. Following a stellar senior campaign, she garnered the squad's Most Improved Player Award. Wojcik set personal-best times in both the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyle events at the MAC Championships. She also shared top times for her team in the 200, 400, and 800 freestyle relay races and swam the anchor leg in each event. Academically, Wojcik was a Scholar Athlete all four years.

Wojcik is a native of Williston Park, N.Y.
