June 30, 2009Landmark Honors Second Semester Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has chosen fourteen student-athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective winter and spring sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities. It is the most exclusive award given out by the conference with just 20 honorees for each academic year.

Juniata Selects New Women's Swimming Coach
Lauren O'Donnell, a former two-time All-America swimmer and six-time NCAA championship qualifier with five years of collegiate coaching experience, has been named head women's swimming coach at Juniata College, it was announced by Juniata athletics director Larry Bock.

Scranton Moves To Top Of President's All-Sports Cup Standings
The University of Scranton Royals have claimed the top spot in the Landmark Presidents All-Sports Cup standings after the completion of the winter season. Twelve of the twenty sports in the Landmark Conference have now concluded leaving institutions only the spring season to leave their mark on the standings. After claiming three Landmark Conference Championships Scranton has accumulated a score of 7.65 to edge out previous leader Susquehanna Universitys score of 7.38.

Landmark Honors Thirty-Two Student-Athletes On Winter All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2009Winter Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark winter sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Landmark Releases Winter Academic Honor Roll
The Landmark Conference has recognized 236 student-athletes by selecting them for the 2009 Winter Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions.

USMMA's Halbach Adds Another National Title
USMMA Sophomore Nicholas Halbach earned his second individual national championship for the 2009 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships by winning the 3-Meter Diving event. With the victory, Halbach was named NCAA Division III Diver of the Year. Diving Coach Kevin Ryan received Diving Coach of the Year Honors for the year.

Scranton Finishes Regular Season With Sweep of Drew
Freshman Carolyn Gillespie (New Market, Md./Linganore) broke a long-time University of Scranton record in the Royals 117-60 victory over Drew University Saturday afternoon at the Long Center while on the men's side Freshman Joseph Clifford (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown East) won the 100 (:50.97) and the 200 freestyle (1:51.64) to lead Scranton past Drew.

Pool Records Propel Mariners Past Stevens
The United States Merchant Marine Academy mens swimming and diving team defeated Stevens Tech, 123-82 on Friday, January 30th in Hoboken, NJ. Three individual Mariners broke Steven Tech pool records along with a Mariner relay team.

Susquehanna Women Cruise Past Juniata Swimming
Susquehanna University's sophomore Lauren Snyder (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) and junior Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) both won two individual events and swam a leg of the fastest 400-meter freestyle relay to help push visiting Susquehanna (37) to a 11562 win over Juniata College (06) at Binder Natatorium on Jan. 21.

Drew Women Earn Dramatic Swimming Win
Drew swimming split its meet with Kings as the women picked up a thrilling 99-92 win. The mens team lost 93-74. Jereon Fabricant won three events for the Rangers mens squad while the women had six first place finishes including Jasmine Prokschas first collegiate victory.

USMMA Women Pull Out Dramatic Win
The United States Merchant Marine Academy womens swimming and diving team defeated St. Josephs College, 101-98 on Thursday, January 8th. Two Mariners won individual events on the night and with the win USMMA improves to 5-0 on the season.

Scranton Sweeps Dual Meet With Susquehanna
The University of Scranton mens and womens swim teams posted convincing victories over Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon. The Royal men won nine of 10 events en route to a 135-70 victory, while the Scranton women took home first-place in eight events on their way to a 131-67 win.

Not only did Goucher produce the top performer in all nine individual events and the fastest entry in both relays in today's meet against Arcadia, but head coach Tom Till's Gophers also set two new pool records during their solid 119-37 triumph over the Knights.

Olympic Gold Medalist Helps Drew Raise Money For Diabetes Research
Drews World Diabetes Day Swim-A-Thon and Gary Hall, Jr. Clinic was a rousing success. The program, created by Drew senior Dan Sorenson and headlined by Halls entertaining and informative clinic, raised nearly $10,000 for diabetes research. The event was featured on the front page of the Daily Record and on the NCAA website.

Olympic Gold Medalist To Take Part In Drew Swim-A-Thon
Gary Hall, Jr., a ten-time Olympic medal-winner, will host a swim clinic in conjunction with Drew Universitys World Diabetes Day Swim-A-Thon on Saturday, November 15, 2008. The event, which begins at 10 AM with a two-hour clinic given by Hall, is followed by the swim-a-thon. All proceeds benefit the Gary Hall, Jr. Foundation for Diabetes, with a portion donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Morristown Memorial Hospital. The event will be held at the Kirby Pool in Drews Simon Forum in Madison, NJ.

Drew Names New Swim Coach
Drew Athletics Director, Dr. Connee Zotos, has announced the hiring of Eric Scheingoltz as the new Head Coach of Mens and Womens Swimming. Previously an assistant at Columbia University, Scheingoltz brings a wealth of experience and technical expertise to the Ranger program.
