Swimmers Add More All-America Accolades
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Landmark Conference swimmers captured two more All-America honors as three swimmers concluded competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.
USMMA's Frank Vita earned his second All-America honor at the meet and his teammate Kevin Lindgren also claimed All-America status. Susquehanna's Joshua Heller also swam in his second event at the Championship.
Vita placed fourth in the in the 200 butterfly, earning honors for the second time. He swam a time of 1:49.39 in the finals after swimming a time of 1:49.77 in the prelims. He closed the meet with a 24th-place finish in the 200 IM on Saturday, posting a time of 1:53.44.
Lindgren earned All-America honors by reaching the finals in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events. The freshman placed 13th in the 200 backstroke on Saturday in a time of 1:49.54, after sitting in 14th place after the prelims. In the 100 backstroke on Friday he qualified in 13th-place and then finished 16th in the finals, swimming a time of 50.42. He then closed the meet with a 42nd-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.06.
Heller closed out his efforts at the meet by placing 44th in the 100 freestyle after swimming in the 50 freestyle earlier at the Championships. He recorded a time of 46.52 to earn that finish.
