Landmark Honors Six Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has chosen six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.

Susquehanna Leads President's All-Sports Cup Standings After Fall Season
On the strength of claiming three Landmark Conference Championships during the fall, Susquehanna University sits atop the Landmark Presidents All-Sports Cup standings after the completion of the fall sports season. With six of the Landmarks 20 sports having finished their seasons, Susquehanna is atop the standings with a score of 7.67. Juniata College, who was in first place in the fall of the 2007 season sits in second place with 7.00 points. The University of Scranton and The Catholic University of America round out the top half of the standings with 6.08 and 5.92 points respectively.

Thirty-Two Student-Athletes Named To Fall All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced that 32 student-athletes have been honored with selection to the 2008 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark fall sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Thomas Repeats As Division III Player of the Year
Juniata senior outside hitter Amber Thomas (Ephrata, Pa./Conestoga Valley) was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. The award was announced Wednesday evening at the 2008 NCAA Division III Championship awards banquet in Bloomington, Ill., which was held in conjunction with the NCAA Division III Championship, to be held November 20-22 on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.

Landmark Announces Volleyball All-Conference Team
A total of 14 student-athletes have been named to the 2008 All-Landmark Conference Volleyball Team as selected by the conferences seven head coaches. The team consists of a first and second team, with seven players on each team, and the coaches selected the team by position. The voting for the All-Conference Team took place after the conclusion of the regular season and prior to the start of the Landmark postseason.

Fall Season Will Conclude With Championship Saturday
The second fall sports season in Landmark Conference history will come to a close on Saturday Nov. 8 as the conference holds championships in four sports. Championship matches will be held in field hockey, mens and womens soccer and volleyball at the site of the highest seed remaining in the four-team postseasons.

Gophers Pick Up Thrilling Five-Set Victory
The first four sets were extremely competitive with both teams having chances to win in each of them. For that reason, it was hardly a surprise that Goucher's match against Stevenson tonight in the Sports & Recreation Center would go to a fifth set. What was a surprise was that one of the teams would suddenly seize complete control of the match by jumping out to a 7-0 lead when it counted the most. But that's exactly what head coach Michael Bossom's Gophers did as they prevailed 15-4 in the decisive fifth set to complete a thrilling 3-2 victory over the visiting Mustangs (22-6).

The Goucher volleyball team had to go five sets to defeat Notre Dame (Md.) the first time the two teams met this season back on September 18. In tonight's rematch, the Gophers accomplished their mission in two fewer sets, winning 3-0.
