Landmark Releases First Sportsmanship Cup Standings
Following the completion of the fall sports season the Juniata College sits atop the standings for the inaugural Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Sportsmanship Cup.

Landmark Honors Fall Senior Scholar Athletes
The Landmark Conference has selected six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities. The award is the most exclusive awarded by the Conference with just 20 honorees for each academic year.

Juniata Volleyball Lands Two On All-America Team
Juniata College senior libero Megan Sollenberger (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and junior setter Steph Strauss (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America squads, which were announced Tuesday evening.

Landmark Announces President's All-Sports Cup Fall Standings
For the second time in as many year Susquehanna University has jumped to the top of the Landmark President’s All Sports Cup standings after the fall sports season. With six of the Landmark’s 20 sports having completed their seasons, Susquehanna leads the standings with a score of 7.33. Juniata College sits in second place with 6.67 points while The Catholic University is a narrow .17 points back in third with a score of 6.5. Rounding out the top half of the standings is The University of Scranton with 5.5 points.

Landmark Releases Fall All-Academic Team
The Landmark Conference has announced the selection of 32 student-athletes to the 2009 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark fall sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Landmark Announces Fall Academic Honor Roll
The Landmark Conference has recognized 369 student-athletes by selecting them for the 2009 Fall Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions.

Eagles Come Up Just Short In NCAA Volleyball Championship
On five occasions, Juniata College women's volleyball has had a post-season march toward a championship cut short by a loss to Washington University of St. Louis. Now it's six. Just two sets away from capturing a third Division III national championship, Juniata dropped a 3-1 decision to Washington-St. Louis in Saturday night's title match at John Carroll University's DeCarlo Varsity Center. Set scores for the Bears were 18-25, 26-24, 25-17, and 25-21.

Juniata Volleyball Reaches National Semifinals
Juniata College had no answers for Trinity University's middles. Trinity had no solutions for Juniata's pin hitters. In the end, the Juniata pin hitters won out. To the tune of a .521 hitting percentage. That's what Juniata sophomore outside hitter Drew Barnhart and senior opposite Paige Johnston combined to hit against Trinity of Texas, as Juniata downed the Tigers 3-0 in their quarterfinal match of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship at John Carroll University's DeCarlo Varsity Center.

Juniata Volleyball Wins Regional; Advances To Quarterfinals
It was Highway 22 that brought Eastern University to Huntingdon for Saturday's women's volleyball showdown against Juniata College. It was Juniata's number 22 that ran Eastern down when it got here. Juniata sophomore middle Amanda Schmidt put down 15 kills on 23 swings to lead her team to a 3-1 win over Eastern, in Saturday's Juniata Regional championship match of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.

Landmark Sending Five Teams To NCAA Tournaments
Five Landmark Conference fall sport teams will represent the conference in 2009 NCAA Division III Tournament play beginning Wednesday Nov. 11. With Landmark Champions earning automatic bids for the first time, the champions in field hockey, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball all earned bids, while one other Landmark team was selected to the field as an at-large participant.

Landmark Announces Volleyball All-Conference Team
A total of 16 student-athletes have been named to the 2009 All-Landmark Conference Volleyball Team as selected by the conference’s seven head coaches. The team consists of a first and second team, with eight players on each team, and the coaches selected the team by position. The voting for the All-Conference Team took place after the conclusion of the regular season and prior to the start of the Landmark postseason.

Juniata Volleyball Returning To NCAA Tournament
Juniata College captured its 29th consecutive women's volleyball conference championship with a 3-0 win over Susquehanna University, Saturday night at the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center. Set scores for the Eagles were 25-21, 27-25, and 25-12. The win allows Juniata (31-3) to gain entry into the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship through the Landmark Conference's automatic qualifier, after being taken as an at-large selection in the last two seasons.

With Landmark postseason play beginning to determine the conference's first automatic qualifiers, a handful of conference teams remained in good position in the NCAA Regional Rankings released Wednesday. These are the final regional rankings that will be released before the NCAA Division III Tournament fields will be released Sunday Nov. 8 and Monday Nov. 9.
