Crusaders Claim Final Postseason Spot On Senior Day
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse
team found the best way to honor its seven senior players Saturday
- a 13-10 win over Moravian College that clinched the No. 4 seed in
the Landmark Conference playoffs. The Crusaders (6-9, 2-3 Landmark)
will travel to No. 1 seed Catholic on Wednesday.
Prior to the game, the team recognized its seven seniors:
Elizabeth DiPaola (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), Rachel Devilbiss
(Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key), Heather Linton (Bridgewater,
N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great
Valley) and Sara Frackowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central),
Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown), Dana Mulvihill
(Madison, N.J./Morristown-Beard School) and Jess Weiss (Huntingdon
Valley, Pa./William Tennent).
It was that group that took charge of the scoring, as McGarrigle
led the team with four goals and an assist. Linton scored three,
one of which was a nifty scoop and flip into the net, while
Devilbiss and Minuni each had one. Mulvihill contributed points
with an assist.
The Crusaders also got goals from Sara Frackowiak (Flemington,
N.J./Hunterdon Central), Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes,
N.J./Mountain Lakes), Kelly Coffey (Northhampton,
Mass./Williston-Northhampton) and Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great
Valley).
Devilbiss also led the way with five ground balls and two caused
turnovers. Linton and Mulvihill had four ground balls each. DiPaola
had two ground balls and a caused turnover. Weiss once again went
the distance in goal, making 12 saves.
