Drew Women's Lacrosse Coach Captures Honor

MADISON, N.J. - Drew women's lacrosse Head Coach Kim Christos was named the IWLCA Metro Region Coach of the Year as voted upon by her peers. Christos led the Rangers to a 16-4 record, the Middle Atlantic Conference title and the NCAA Sweet 16 this past season. Three times the conference Coach of the Year, this is Christos' first regional honor.
Christos finished the season with 99 career wins at Drew and a .723 winning percentage in her seven seasons at Drew. She is Drew's all-time leader in wins and ranks second in winning percentage. In 2007, she helped the Rangers tie her own school record for most wins in a season and led them to the program's sixth MAC title. The Rangers won the title for the final time with a thrilling 15-12 victory over FDU-Florham as Drew leaves the MAC for the newly created Landmark Conference beginning in the fall of 2007. With the 12-11 victory over St. John Fisher in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the Rangers booked a trip to face eventual NCAA Final Four competitors Middlebury in the Sweet 16.
Christos' coach prowess also resulted in a number of individual honors for her players as Courtney Cunningham was named to the IWLCA All-American third team. Allie Bailly and Cunningham were also named first team IWLCA All-Region while Alex Weber Reitz and Gabbie Haenn joined those two on the all-conference squad.
IN addition to Christos, former Drew Head Coach Karin Brower was named the Division I National Coach of the Year for leading Penn to the No. 2 national ranking.
