Crusader Women's Soccer Gets Off To Fast Start

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Junior forward Karen Florio (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson Fair Haven) contributed to the Susquehanna scoring for a second straight day, chipping one home in the 63rd minute of Susquehanna's 3-0 win over Pitt-Bradford in its own Classic.

Florio's efforts on the weekend earned her All-Tournament honors, along with senior Laura Haldeman (Wallkill, N.Y./Walkill) and junior Kelly Davitt (Hampton, N.J. /North Hunterdon).

Junior forward Becky Smedley (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) started the scoring in the first period on an assist from sophomore Tori Weiss (McLean, Va. /Langley). The Panther defense held for the rest of the half to keep the Crusaders at 1-0 at halftime.

Florio then took a pass from sophomore Abby Montgomery (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) to cushion the Susquehanna lead. Freshman Amanda Teeple (Springbrook Twp., Pa./North Pocono) added a point-blank shot on a pass from fellow frosh Anna Weisel (Philadelphia, Pa. /Springside) in the waning minutes for the final Crusader score.
