Scranton's Chelsea Paskman Earns All-America Honors
SCRANTON, Pa. - It’s been quite a week for Chelsea Paskman
(Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South), a junior midfielder on The
University of Scranton women’s soccer team.
Today, she was named second-team all-American by the National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), just 48 hours after
being named first-team all-Mid-Atlantic region by the same
organization.
Paskman becomes the eighth player in Royals’ women’s
soccer history to earn all-America honors, joining Sue Cately
(1987), Holly Spiech (1988, 1989, 1990), Monica Davidson (1989),
Renee Zizza (1992), Nicole Amato (1999), Nicole Bayman (2000), and
Sara Suchoski (2001, 2003).
A three-time all-Landmark Conference first-team selection and the
conference’s rookie and player of the year in 2007 and 2009,
respectively, Paskman scored four goals and had three assists from
her center midfield position this past season. She tallied the
match-winning goal in victories over Wilkes University, 2-1, on
Wednesday, September 9, in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania, and in 2-1
and 1-0 wins over Muhlenberg College and Elizabethtown College at
Fitzpatrick Field on September 26 and October 7, respectively.
Paskman has started all 51 matches in her career and now has 10
goals and 16 assists for 36 total points. She is currently tied for
14th place on the Royals’ all-time list for assists.
Paskman played a major role on this year’s team that
finished with a 13-4-2 overall record and qualified for the
Landmark Conference tournament under second-year head coach Colleen
Murphy. Scranton’s 13 wins this season were the most for the
program since the Royals won 22 matches under former head coach,
the late Joe Bochicchio, in 2003.
