  • Student-Athlete Takes Part In Bone Marrow Donation
    June 14, 2011
    Stephanie Pezzello, who will begin her junior season on the Moravian College field hockey team this fall, has a more important job later this month as she will be donating bone marrow to an 11-year old with leukemia after signing up to be a donor at the Be The Match Foundation – Get in the Game, Save a Life event hosted by the Greyhound football program the last two years.

  • Landmark Announces Fall Senior Scholar Athletes

    The Landmark Conference has selected six athletes as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective fall sports. A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference.

    Junior Mary Swarthout scored a pair of goals and the CUA defense was once again very strong in lifting the Cardinals to a 2-1 win over Drew in the 2010 ECAC championship game on Sunday inside Cardinal Stadium. The victory is CUA's program record 17th as the Cardinals finish their season with a title.

    CUA opened play in the ECAC Tournament on Wednesday with a convincing 5-0 win over Gwynedd-Mercy inside Cardinal Stadium. Meredith Chandler netted a hat trick for the Cardinals, as they improve to 15-4 on the season.

With Landmark Champions earning automatic bids the champions in field hockey, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball all earned bids, while one other Landmark team was selected to the field as an at-large participant.

    Goucher's Micki Manheimer made 15 saves through 70 minutes of regulation and two 15-minute overtime but the junior goalie's day was still not over. That's because the Gophers were remained locked in a 2-2 tie with Moravian. So she stopped all three of the Greyhounds' attempts during the subsequent stroke-off, which allowed the Gophers to secure a highly satisfying 3-2 victory.
