Landmark Announces Men's Basketball All-Conference Team

Landmark Announces Men's Basketball All-Conference Team

MADISON, N.J. – A total of 12 student-athletes have been selected to the 2008-09 All-Landmark Conference Men’s Basketball Team as selected by the conference’s eight head coaches. The team consists of a first and second team, with six players on each team, and the selections made by position. The voting for the All-Conference Team took place after the conclusion of the regular season and prior to the start of the Landmark postseason.

The University of Scranton and the United States Merchant Marine Academy each place three players on the All-Conference squad, while Susquehanna earned two honorees, both on the first team. Susquehanna also swept the additional postseason awards. Senior Joel Patch was named the Player of the Year, junior guard Bryan Majors (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year, and freshman guard Spenser Spencer was selected as the Rookie of the Year. In addition, Susquehanna Head Coach Frank Marcinek and his staff were honored as the Coaching Staff of the Year.

While last year’s All-Conference Team was dominated by seniors, the sophomore class earned the most representatives this season with five selections. Four seniors also earned places in their final year of competition, along with two juniors and one freshman. Two of the All-Conference selections are repeat selections as Catholic’s Jason Banzhaf and Scranton’s Zach Ashworth were both All-Conference honorees a year ago.
