Landmark Announces Men's Lacrosse Award Winners

TOWSON, Md. — The Landmark men's lacrosse coaches have made their All-Landmark and major award selections, with Merchant Marine's Geoff Harty taking home Player of the Year accolades. Harry Rice from Drew was named Rookie of the Year, while head coach Drew Delaney and his staff at Elizabethtown were honored as the Coaching Staff of the Year.

Harty, who was a First-Team All-Landmark selection as a freshman and a second-team honoree last spring, has a conference-leading 42 goals this season. Of those 42 goals, 18 came in conference games, including a five-goal effort against Landmark-leading Elizabethtown. Harty also had 15 assists to rank second in the conference 57 points.

Joe Clark (Elizabethtown) and Will Mahle (Scranton) join Harty as first-team attackers. Clark led the Landmark in points (62) and assists (23) and he is second behind Harty with 39 goals. The sophomore took home four Landmark Athlete of the Week awards this year. Mahle totaled 28 goals and 13 assists during his senior season, and he scored on 59.3 percent of his shots in conference play.

Owen Demmerly, Victor Licata and Mike Specht are the three midfielders to earn first-team status. Demmerly, a second-team member in 2014, contributed 21 goals and seven assists for Goucher this spring. Licata finished with 23 goals and six assists for Catholic, and he also added 41 ground balls. He ranked sixth in the Landmark with his 13 goals in conference games. Specht led Elizabethtown's midfield with 21 goals, 12 assists and 22 ground balls.

Scranton's Ryan Millard repeats as the Landmark's top long stick midfielder. His 62 ground balls were fourth in the conference and second among non-faceoff specialists. Conor Boyland, meanwhile, concludes his senior season at Susquehanna as the first-team short-stick defensive midfielder. He had 33 ground balls on the year.

Matt Finor was ranked as the league's No. 1 faceoff specialist. The Scranton senior led the Landmark in both faceoff wins (174) and win percentage (64.2 percent).

Matt Frey (Elizabethtown), Kade MacGregor (Susquehanna) and Dan McCallan (Catholic) earned first-team recognition as defenders. Frey ranked fifth in ground balls (59) and second in caused turnovers (39), while MacGregor topped the conference in caused turnovers (41) and slots in ninth with 51 ground balls. McCallan's 17 caused turnovers place him in the top 10 within the conference, and he also had 34 ground balls.

Nicholas McKaba from Scranton repeats as the first-team goalkeeper. His 62.5 percent save percentage in conference games was second in the league. Overall, he made 137 saves and registered a 6.49 goals-against average. The Royals finished with a Landmark-high four first-team honorees.

Rice made an immediate impact in his debut season with the Rangers. He was voted as the top rookie after totaling 27 goals on 112 shots. His nine man-up goals were tops in the league. This is the second straight year that a Drew player has earned Rookie of the Year accolades.

Delaney and his staff of assistants are recognized after leading the Blue Jays through an undefeated season in conference play. Elizabethtown is currently on a 13-game winning streak, and this year's team has already set a program record for most wins in a season (14).

Every Landmark team managed at least two selections across both the first and second teams. The full list of 27 honorees is available below.
