TOWSON, Md. – The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team is looking for its ninth straight Landmark Conference title and 10th overall this season. The league coaches have picked the Greyhounds to repeat with six first-place votes and 60 points.
Elizabethtown finished second in the poll with 46 points and the last remaining first place votes while Susquehanna picked up 42 points to finish third.
Moravian returns a strong core of competitors from last season's squad that won the program's eighth straight Landmark Conference Championship. John Spirk, who was the 60-meter hurdles champion a year ago, is a strong contender to repeat in 2018.
Elizabethtown lost its two top point scorers from last year in Andrew Lesko and Michael Twist, but return a core group that produced for the Blue Jays and helped the team to third place in 2017. E-town will be competitive once again across all areas with Mitch Schlegel leading the way in the sprints, Tommy Fitzgerald in the mid-distance, Samuel Gerstenbacher in the distance, and Matt Pysher in the throws.
Susquehanna returns a more experience team than that of 2017. Seniors Kyle Skelton and Ryan Bertsch will be looked upon to lead the RIver Hawks who finished second at last year's championships.
Juniata was picked fourth in the poll with 30 points while Catholic earned 24 points for fifth. Newcomer Scranton received 15 points to finish sixth and Goucher rounded out the poll in seventh with 13 points.
The 2017-18 Landmark Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held at Susquehanna on Saturday, Feb. 24.
