Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

Landmark Announces Athletes of the Week

The Landmark Conference has released the Athletes of the Week. The conference will recognize a student-athlete for each sport based on their contributions to their team throughout the season.

The playoff picture is beginning to take shape with just one week left in the regular season.

Catholic field hockey locked up the No. 1 seed in the tournament after nabbing the team's sixth Landmark victory. Juniata clinched a spot in the playoffs, but there are two spots remaining. Monday's makeup game between Scranton and Drew will help narrow down the possible scenarios. The top two teams in the Landmark standings will host semifinal games Wednesday, Nov. 5 with the championship scheduled at the highest remaining seed Saturday, Nov. 8.

USMMA and Catholic men's soccer teams both clinched home semifinal games. Drew is currently third in the standings with 13 points while four teams are tied for fourth with 10 points leaving two spots left to be decided.

The Catholic women guaranteed themselves the No. 1 seed in the Landmark tournament. Elizabethtown needs a point or a Scranton loss or tie to clinch the No. 2 seed. Scranton clinched a spot in the tournament leaving Moravian and Drew to fight over the final spot.

Volleyball was out of conference play this weekend, but the eight teams combined to go 16-8. There are 18 regular season matches remaining before the semifinals kick off Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Goucher cross country competed in the lone meet this week as the final tune-up in preparation for the Landmark Championships on Saturday.

Seven swimming & diving teams were in competition in eight meets this week.
