Top Moments

Top Moments

The 2016-17 season marks the 10th year anniversary for the Landmark Conference. As part of the buildup to each sport’s championship season, fans will be asked to select their favorite moment from the first decade from a list created by members of the conference. The winning moment will be announced prior to the conference championship.

The final round of voting will begin on Tuesday, April 25, and will run through Friday, April 28 at noon.

The top moment winners will be announced in the weeks leading up to championship weekend.

Men's Cross Country

Moment 1: October 29, 2011Moravian Men Win Landmark Title in Snow

The Moravian College men's cross country team won its first Landmark Conference title at 2011 championship meet. The race was shortened from its scheduled 8,000-meters due to a tree falling from the heavy wet snow and blocking a portion course. This is the first conference Championship the Moravian men's cross country team has won since 1998.

Moment 2: October 31, 2015 – Elizabethtown Men’s Cross Country is Nearly Perfect in Second Title

E-town nearly ran a flawless race at the 2015 Landmark Conference Championship meet on Long Island. E-town won its second consecutive conference title with a meet-low 16 points, one away from the perfect score. Zach Trama won the individual championship and earned Performer of the Year honors as a result. The Blue Jays took the top four spots.

Moment 3: November 21, 2015 Elizabethtown's Trama Caps Career with All-America Finish

Trama’s tremendous season was capped off with an exclamation point as the senior became the fifth runner in the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team's history to earn All-American honors at the NCAA Championships. Trama finished 26th overall out of the 280-runner field and led E-town to a 22nd-place finish.

Women's Cross Country

Moment 1: October 27, 2007 – Juniata Women’s Cross Country Wins First Ever Landmark Title

The women’s cross country teams win first conference title since joining the Landmark, and it was the first title won for the conference.

Moment 2: October 29, 2011Moravian Women Win Landmark Title in Snow

The Moravian College women's cross country teams captured its first Landmark Conference title at the 2011 meet under four inches of snow. Senior Cadee Rockwell, won the 6,000-meter race to earn Landmark Conference Runner of the Year honors, Landmark All-Conference First Team accolades and help the program win its first conference championship since 2002.

Moment 3: October 31, 2015 – Elizabethtown Women’s Cross Country Dominates for Second Straight Title

E-town continued its unprecedented run of conference championships by winning its second straight Landmark Conference title. The Blue Jays championship, the ninth straight by the women's team, is the longest streak by any Elizabethtown cross country team since becoming a varsity sport. E-town also had the individual champion on its side for the second year running with Lydia Dearie placing first. The Jays took the top three spots in the race and were one-point of last year's conference record (18) with a meet-low 19 points.

Field Hockey

 Moment 1: November 9, 2013 – Catholic Wins Third Landmark Championship, Advances to Elite 8

In front of a season-high 500 fans, the Cardinal Field Hockey team obtained its third consecutive Landmark Conference Title with a 2-0 shutout over No. 4 Scranton. It was also the first time team advanced to NCAA Elite 8 in program history.

Moment 2: November 8, 2014 – Juniata Landmark Championship Game

Earlier in the week, the Eagles defeated Catholic 2-1 in double overtime in Huntingdon. This game would match the intensity of that game. The Cardinals pounded 21 shots (nine on goal) but the JC defense stood firm. Goalkeeper Julianne Jones stopped six shots in the cage with Kelsey Leibelsperger blocking two and Kortney Showers picking up one save. Juniata had just one shot the whole game and it came at the most opportune time. Allison Groft found Katie Alexander on a fast break for the game-winning score at 87:59 to give Juniata the Landmark Championship.

Moment 3: September 26, 2015 – Elizabethtown's Aichele’s OT Goal Sends Field Hockey Past Catholic for 600th Win

Alyssa Aichele scored 4:49 into overtime, completing the comeback over 12th-ranked Catholic in the nation's capital, 3-2, and giving Elizabethtown College field hockey its 600th win all-time.

Moment 1: November 12, 2009 – Susquehanna Advances to Sweet 16

Highlights of the Susquehanna men’s soccer 1-0 victory over the University of Rochester on Sunday, which propelled the SU into the Sweet Sixteen.

Moment 2: October 24, 2015 – Elizabethtown Puts Away Drew for Roderick’s 500th Win
The Blue Jays added another magical moment to a regular season that has been full of them. Roderick's 500th win puts him in elite company. He's only the seventh men's soccer coach in NCAA Division III history and 12th across all NCAA divisions to reach the mark.

Moment 3: November 7, 2015 – Scranton Wins First Landmark Title
Pair of late goals 23 seconds apart lift Scranton to its first Landmark title with a 3-2 win at sixth-ranked E-town.

After surviving two back-to-back double overtime games, the Drew University women's soccer team won the 2013 Landmark Conference Championship, defeating the University of Scranton, 4-3 in penalty kicks.

Moment 2: November 5, 2015 - Scranton's Egan Scores Goal in 109th Minute Lifts Royals Past E-town

Kelly Egan's goal in the 109th minute lifts Scranton past E-town in a Landmark semifinal, setting off a wild celebration and sending the Royals to the title match for the sixth straight year.

Moment 3: November 7, 2015 - Catholic Scores Two Goals in Final Minutes to Win Title

On a soaking wet CUA Soccer Field, in dramatic fashion, The Catholic University of America women's soccer captured the win for their second consecutive Landmark Conference Championship over the University of Scranton Royals, 3-2. The Cardinals went on to win a first-round NCAA game, and advanced to the second round.

Women's Volleyball

Moment 1: November 3, 2007 - Juniata Captures 27th Straight Conference Championship

Juniata College captured its 27th straight conference championship, with a 3-0 win over the University of Scranton to win the inaugural Landmark Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament championship. Game scores were 30-11, 30-10, and 30-28. With the championship, the second-ranked Eagles pick up in the new Landmark Conference right where they left off in the old Commonwealth Conference and its forerunner, the Middle Atlantic Conference, where Juniata won 26 consecutive conference championships dating back to 1981.

Moment 2: Moravian Has Stellar 2012 Season | All-Conference | All-American | All-Star

The Greyhounds finished with a 29-9 record and was third in Landmark. Jesse Krasley was named All-Region, Honorable All-American, and was named Landmark Specialist of the Year. Sam Savite was also named All-Region, Honorable All-American while Victoria Bobyak was chosen as the Landmark's Rookie of the Year.

Moment 3: November 7, 2015: Juniata Wins Ninth Landmark Title

With the fate of the game on the line and Susquehanna at match point in the fifth set, the Juniata women's volleyball team rallied together and battled back to a thrilling 18-16 victory for the Landmark Championship title.
